Cardinals placed Kaleb Proctor (knee) on season-ending injured reserve.

The fourth-round rookie suffered a torn meniscus in OTAs. Head coach Matt LaFleur didn’t sound optimistic about his odds of suiting up this year when it happened. Now his absence is official. With over a year to recover from the injury, Proctor will hopefully be fully recovered ahead of the 2027 season.

LaFleur said Proctor will miss “quite a bit of time” and eventually added, “if not the whole year.” It sounds like the fourth-round rookie will likely need season-ending surgery. Proctor was a standout performer at the 2026 NFL Combine after notching nine sacks at Southeastern Louisiana in his final season of college ball. Though he was likely slated for a part-time role in his first pro season, it’s still a blow to an Arizona defense that ranked 29th in points allowed last year.

Proctor saw his stock improve as much as any interior lineman in the class with his impressive showing at the NFL combine. He forged a 4.79s 40-yard dash, showed off a 33-inch vertical jump, and posted an excellent 4.71s 20-yard shuttle; all from a 6-foot-1, 291-pound frame. That’s not to say that Proctor wasn’t on the map for his previous production, as he was the Southland Conference Player of the Year while registering nine sacks and 13 tackles for loss while also batting down a pair of passes. Obviously, the biggest question is how that translates, as Southeastern Louisiana isn’t exactly a known football powerhouse. But it’s easy to understand why he’s drafted with that kind of production and those kind of athletic traits. He’s someone to keep an eye on this summer fighting for a role on the Cardinals’ defensive line.

Cardinals guard Isaiah Adams is facing charges for possessing a weapon by crime, possessing a restricted or prohibited firearm without a license, possessing a loaded firearm, and possessing a prohibited device.

Adams turned himself in to Toronto police on Sunday. Per ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss, he is still expected to report to training camp. Adams was expected to compete for a starting job at right guard this summer, but the off-field concerns could see him shuffled to the bench for the start of the season. A 2024 third-round pick, Adams made 11 starts in 2025 and five starts as a rookie.

The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt believes Isaiah Davis is the “early favorite” for the Jets’ backup running back job.

Rosenblatt led his breakdown by noting that Davis and Braelon Allen will both get snaps, so there isn’t likely to be a clear winner behind Breece Hall. Allen missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury. In his absence, the Jets leaned on Davis as a pass-catcher to give Hall the occasional breather. He was targeted 28 times and brought down 21 of them for 186 yards. Davis has also been effective between the tackles, averaging 5.6 yards per carry through two seasons compared to 3.7 for Allen. The Jets’ backup job could have some appeal in deeper fantasy leagues, but it sounds like fantasy managers will want to get more info from training camp before placing their bets.

Seahawks placed Zach Charbonnet (knee) on the active/PUP list.

Charbonnet is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in the Divisional Round last year. He can be activated from the PUP list at any time, though the most likely outcome is that he misses all of camp and is then moved to the reserve/PUP list. That would require him to miss at least the first four games of the season. With Kenneth Walker gone, the Seahawks will rely on first-round rookie Jadarian Price to start the year. George Holani and Emmanuel Wilson could also mix in for some touches, with Holani likely operating as the primary option on passing downs.

Cardinals signed third-round rookie Carson Beck to a four-year contract.

The first pick of the third round, Beck’s deal is worth roughly $7.4 million over four years. Jacoby Brissett is also gunning for a new contract, though he is looking for a raise on his current salary and more guarantees. Brissett is penciled in as the Week 1 starter and is not even a highly paid backup. The two sides should come to an agreement soon, though the deal won’t guarantee Brissett a full season as the starter. If things don’t go well for Arizona this year, they will almost certainly take a look at Beck near the end of the season.

Panthers placed LT Ikem Ekwonu (knee) on the active/PUP list.

Tershawn Wharton is joining him on the PUP list. This was to be expected after Ekwonu suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in the playoffs. He isn’t expected to be ready for Week 1. Panthers coach Dave Canales could only say he expects Ekwonu to return “at some point” in 2026 when asked about him in June. With right tackle Taylor Moton also out for the start of the year, the Panthers will likely be forced to start free agent addition Rasheed Walker and first-round rookie Monroe Freeling early in the season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Seahawks have “been in intense negotiations” to try to sign CB Devon Witherspoon to a record-setting deal.

The Seahawks have “made an extraordinary effort” to sign Witherspoon before training camp, per Rapoport. The deal would “almost certainly” make Witherspoon the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL and Rapoport said $32 million a season would be the new benchmark and he’d be surprised if the deal wasn’t around there. Sounds like there’s a chance this deal is knocked out sooner rather than later, and obviously if and when it does get done, Christian Gonzalez of the Patriots will be next in line to get his own record-setting extension.

The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec reports Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) has yet to be medically cleared to play.

That would be the first bar Madubuike will have to clear to get back on the field. There was plenty of optimism about Madubuike returning this offseason from Ravens management, but given how long he was out we’d be surprised if he didn’t at least miss a chunk of training camp, and perhaps even some regular season time while he tries to get back into football shape.

The Athletic’s Colton Pouncy believes Sione Vaki has an opportunity to cut into Isiah Pacheco’s touches.

Vaki was “quietly putting together an excellent training camp last year when healthy” per Pouncy and the 2024 fourth-round pick could cut into Pacheco’s touches if Pacheco continues to not look like the 2022-2023 vintage. Vaki has just seven carries in his first two seasons in the league, but has been active 27 games as a core special teams contributor.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Cardinals are “in agreement” that QB Jacoby Brissett “deserves more money.”

The Cardinals are slated to enter the season with Brissett as the starter, but Brissett’s contract calls for just $1.5 million in guarantees this season. The 33-year-old desires a starter-level contract and could be a candidate for a hold-in. Rapoport reports the team agrees that Brissett deserves a pay bump and the two sides have been negotiating “for months”, though a deal has not yet been reached.
