Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy (shoulder) is practicing in full for Week 1 against the Broncos.

Worthy’s range of potential outcomes remains quite wide. The team attributed his lackluster 2025 season to the significant shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1. He missed time in training camp with a shoulder issue as well. He can be treated as a volatile FLEX playing in a top-tier offense against the Broncos.
Maye was 'decisive' in bounce-back Week 4 outing
Chris Simms and Devin McCourty evaluate how Drake Maye was able to get back on track in Week 4 against the Bills, with Simms highlighting one area he still wants to see the Patriots quarterback clean up.

Worthy saw a season-high seven targets in this one after Rashee Rice (hamstring) exited just a few plays into the game. Worthy came up with a handful of key plays for the Chiefs, with his biggest coming on a 41-yard reception that put the Chiefs in position for a short touchdown pass to Tyquan Thornton a few plays later. The Chiefs now head into their Week 5 bye, but they could be down multiple receivers, with Rice and Thornton (ankle) both suffering injuries in this one. While we don’t yet know the extent of Rice’s injury, Thornton’s ankle injury looked like a potential season-ender. Worthy could well be worth a stash in leagues where he is still available, as he could soon be the top receiver for the Chiefs when they return in Week 6 to face the Chargers. Second-year receiver Jalen Royals, who ran 21 routes in this game, could also see an expanded role in the coming weeks.

Worthy was also shaken up by a big hit but was never announced with an injury. Patrick Mahomes attempted only 24 passes this afternoon, but that’s still a disappointing target total for the third-year pro. 23-year-old Worthy is now sitting on just 10 catches for 63 yards through the Chiefs’ first three games. Even with this offense showing major year-over-year improvement, it’s getting harder to keep the WR4 faith with Worthy. The Raiders are a plus Week 4 matchup in Vegas.

Worthy’s score came from one yard out on a fourth-down play at the end of the second quarter. The play followed three consecutive failed rush attempts from Kenneth Walker from one yard out, with the veteran receiver leaking to the flat on a Mahomes bootleg for his first score of the young season. Worthy remains a shaky WR5 ahead of a cake matchup with the Dolphins in Week 3.

The entire Kansas City pass offense appeared stuck in the mud, with little ability to attack deep against one of the league’s best defenses. Worthy struggled to gain separation on targets beyond five yards of the line of scrimmage, something the Chiefs have struggled with the previous two seasons. Further hampering their downfield pass game was an inconsistent and adjusting Patrick Mahomes in his first game since tearing his ACL. The return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy saw the Chiefs lean on new running back Kenneth Walker, who out-gained the entire Denver offense on his own, leaving little in the way of additional motivation to air the ball out. Worthy enters a Week 2 matchup with the Colts as a low-upside WR5, likely best left on fantasy benches, for the time being.

On Monday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Worthy should resume practicing at some point this week. The Chiefs have another practice tomorrow, so Worthy technically still has 24 hours to prove Reid right, but his continued absence is slightly concerning regardless. Last Saturday, Worthy sprained the same shoulder that was surgically repaired this offseason. He dislocated his right shoulder in Week 1, causing a full labral tear and badly impacting his season. It would be great to see him resume practicing fully tomorrow or early next week.

This news comes after Worthy was carted from the field during Saturday’s practice. The third-year receiver is hoping to put last year’s disappointing season behind him when he caught just 42 passes for 432 yards and one touchdown while missing some time with a dislocated shoulder. Despite the early scare over the weekend, this recent injury doesn’t appear to be all too concerning.

Worthy was taken via cart from the practice field Saturday, although beat reporters said he was sitting in the front seat and “didn’t seem distressed as he exited.” Even so, fantasy managers don’t like seeing “Worthy” and “shoulder” together in the same sentence after the speedy third-year receiver dislocated his shoulder in Week 1 of the 2025 season and never fully looked himself. That leaves his status as a situation to monitor moving forward. Per ESPN’s Nate Taylor, Worthy made “an impressive deep catch against two defenders in which he fell to the turf near the end zone.”

Newell said Worthy would have been “the likely winner” of a hypothetical “Team MVP” award for the practices if such a thing existed. This should all be taken with a grain of salt, as Worthy was sporting a no-contact jersey during the sessions while continuing to recover from a torn labrum, but even head coach Andy Reid said Worthy “really had a nice camp” at the conclusion of minicamp on Thursday. Worthy has struggled to live up to the hype that made him the No. 28 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, with injuries, missed throws, and ill-timed drops combining to make for a challenging start. Despite this, the Chiefs and fantasy managers remain hopeful that Worthy can take another step in 2026. Reid said Worthy did well in camp when the team put him “in a lot of primary positions,” which will hopefully lead to an expanded role this season, especially if Rashee Rice is suspended to start the year. Worthy is currently going around the ninth round in fantasy drafts and has averaged 5.5 targets/gm for his career. An increased workload could put him in the discussion as a potential top-36 receiver in PPR leagues.

This is presumably related to the shoulder injury that head coach Andy Reid says limited Worthy throughout the 2025 season. Questions remain as to how large a workload Worthy, 23, can handle. But with TE Travis Kelce entering his age-36 season and No. 1 WR Rashee Rice dealing with more health and off-field issues, Worthy has the opportunity to carve out a sizable role right now.

This of course has to do with Rashee Rice failing a drug test and undergoing another knee procedure and missing up to two months. Rice this week violated his probation by testing positive for THC and will serve 30 days in jail. He’s slated to be out of jail by the middle of June. This is just the latest in a long time of off-the-field issues that have kept Rice away from the team. There’s also the matter of Rice’s health, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Tuesday that the KC wideout will be sidelined for upwards of two months after undergoing a clean-up procedure on his right knee. The Chiefs, Breer said, believed Rice can be a top-10 NFL receiver when healthy, but are skeptical as to whether they can trust Rice to stay out of legal trouble and stay healthy. Rice’s legal woes and injury history could force Kansas City to reconsider an offer for Brown, who is widely expected to be dealt by the Eagles after June 1. The Patriots and Jaguars have also been mentioned as potential suitors for Brown. “I don’t believe that happens,” Breer said of Brown landing in Kansas City. “But I think if you’re the Chiefs you have to take a look at all of these things going forward.”

Bears coach Ben Johnson said Kyle Monangai’s thumb injury is “not an issue.”

Johnson did add, “He had 30 carries, and he feels like he had 30 carries.” Monangai will play in Week 5 versus the Packers, but it doesn’t sound like he will double up D’Andre Swift in carries for the second week in a row. Expect a more even split of the work this week, with Swift potentially returning to his normal lead-back role. Even with fewer carries, Monangai is locked in as a fantasy RB3.

ESPN’s John Keim reports Jayden Daniels (elbow) is expected to be a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo already reported that Daniels is expected to play in Week 5 and a full practice to open the week all but confirms his update. With Marcus Mariota also banged up, seventh-round rookie Athan Kaliakmanis would have been the next man up. He will back Daniels up as long as the latter doesn’t suffer any setbacks. The Commanders will likely dial back the designed runs for their franchise quarterback, but fantasy managers have to start him as a low-end QB1 as long as he’s on the field.

Tee Higgins (adductor) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.

Higgins went down with the injury in the fourth quarter of Week 4. He tried to play through it but ultimately ended the game on the sidelines. A limited practice today is a good sign for his Week 5 availability. That will be doubly important with Ja’Marr Chase (concussion) also questionable for Sunday’s game. If Chase can’t clear protocol in time, Higgins will operate as the Bengals’ No. 1 receiver. Even at less than full strength, he would be a fringe WR1 play.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Ja’Marr Chase is working through the league’s concussion protocol.

Chase suffered the brain injury in Week 4 and did not return. He entered the league’s concussion protocol after the game. Taylor didn’t give much of an update on where he stands for Week 5, but Chase has several hurdles to clear before he is given the green light. He is likely on the wrong side of questionable to start the week, but it’s too early to say anything definitively. If he can’t go, Tee Higgins, who is dealing with an injury of his own, would take on the lion’s share of the targets in the Cincy offense.

Ravens acquired Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Eagles in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick.

The Ravens have sustained several interior offensive line injuries in recent weeks. Things got so bad that they did not have a healthy center on the active roster or practice squad after Week 3. Jurgens is currently in concussion protocol and may not suit up this week, but he will take over as the team’s starter once healthy. The Eagles, in turn, will move forward Drew Kendall at center.

Eagles activated RB Dameon Pierce to the team’s active roster.

Pierce will probably operate as the team’s No. 2 back behind Will Shipley this week against the Jaguars, one of the league’s best rush defenses. Tank Bigsby and Saquon Barkley are sidelined, leaving the Eagles scraping bottom for backfield depth. Look for Pierce to get some early-down work against the Jaguars. Shipley, who had six carries for 23 yards last week, is the only viable fantasy option of the two, though head coach Nick Sirianni heaped praise on Pierce Wednesday. “He’s an NFL starting running back,” Sirriani said of Pierce. “Maybe wouldn’t have said that when he was on our practice squad publicly, because of the fear of losing him. But he’s an NFL starting running back.”

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Adonai Mitchell (finger) remains week to week.

Mitchell will likely miss his third straight game with the finger issue. He suffered the injury just as he was coming on as the team’s clear No. 2 wideout behind Garrett Wilson. With Mitchell sidelined last week against the Bears, Isaiah Williams was second on the team in pass routes, saw three targets, and caught a 58-yard touchdown from Geno Smith. Williams will have some deep-league viability in Week 5 against a Browns defense allowing the most air yards in the NFL.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Breece Hall (quad) is still “week to week.”

It doesn’t look like Hall will practice this week as he recovers from the injury he sustained in Week 3. That would mean Braelon Allen, who saw all 14 running back rushes for New York in Week 4, will again function as the team’s workhorse in Week 5 against the Browns. Allen should still be considered a top-24 option despite the Jets’ immense offensive struggles last week against Chicago. The Browns defense is allowing the sixth highest EPA per rush this season.

Vikings signed Odell Beckham, Jr., formerly of the Giants.

Beckham, 33, was released by the Giants last week after getting almost no playing time in the season’s first few games. In Minnesota he will reunite with Kevin O’Connell, who worked with OBJ during his stint with the Rams. With Justin Jefferson (ankle) sidelined last week, Jordan Addison led Minnesota wideouts with 39 percent of the team’s air yards and 16 percent of the targets. Jauan Jennings, meanwhile, had one target while running 95 percent of the team’s routes. Beckham could operate as the team’s WR2 while Jefferson is sidelined. In the Vikings’ ultra run-heavy offense, that probably won’t matter for fantasy purposes.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Lamar Jackson’s ankle sprain is “unconventional.”

The sprain Jackson sustained in Week 4 against the Titans, according to Rapoport, is neither low nor high. Rapoport said Monday that Jackson has an “outside” shot at suiting up in Week 5 against the Falcons and could miss multiple games with the unique ankle situation. Tyler Huntley will once again sub in for Jackson until he’s ready to return. Baltimore will likely be far more run heavy with Huntley under center, limiting targets for Zay Flowers and the rest of the Ravens pass catchers.
