Ja’Marr Chase caught 9-of-12 targets for 98 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals’ Week 3 loss to the Steelers.

Chase’s 12 targets led the Bengals in this one. The star receiver caught all three of his targets on the Bengals’ first drive of the game, with his last target resulting in a three-yard touchdown. Chase would come up with a big 21-yard reception on a fourth-and-two in the third quarter that helped set up Evan McPherson for an eventual field goal and came up with two catches on third downs to extend drives. Chase has now scored in back-to-back games and has a dominant 16-173-3 line on 21 targets over that span. As usual, he’ll be a must-start in Week 4 against the Jaguars in a game that could have plenty of scoring.
NFL could 'deconstruct' Sunday Ticket by 2030
Mike Florio discusses the future of NFL broadcasting on the heels of a report that the league could do away with Sunday Ticket, the subscription service allowing fans to watch every out-of-market game, by 2030.

His first touchdown was a breathtaking back-shoulder ball that required picture-perfect foot dragging to bring in for a score — it was such a good catch that CBS play-by-play man Kevin Harlan didn’t actually believe it was a touchdown at first. He added a second touchdown out of structure when Joe Burrow drifted to the right of the pocket and lured Reed Blankenship up to create a hole for Chase. Fantasy’s WR1 is back at it again and should (obviously) be started and trusted against the Steelers in Week 3.

Typically if you see 33 points for the Bengals, you are going to assume a big day for the No. 1 wideout, especially vs. an undermanned secondary. It wasn’t meant to be for whatever reason — one reason was short fields set up by Bucs turnovers — with Joe Burrow looking Chase’s way on only four of 35 attempts. Burrow was also more focused on the middle of the field than the boundary. It continues Burrow and Chase’s baffling habit of quiet Week 1 efforts, but there is nothing to read in to it heading into Week 2. Chase will be a locked-and-loaded WR1 vs. an elite Texans defense smarting for a Week 1 collapse vs. Buffalo.

Chase was a full participant in each of the Bengals’ first two practices to start the week and is good to go for Week 1, according to head coach Zac Taylor. Chase can be trusted as a high-end WR1 for fantasy players in a matchup against the Buccaneers that should be ripe for fantasy points.

Chase’s participation actually exceeds expectations. Beginning the week with a limited session would have been unsurprising. The Bengals’ star wide receiver hyperextended his knee on August 25th, but he is now good to go. Treat Chase as an elite WR1, per usual.

He said the same about Tee Higgins, who is dealing with a heel issue. Chase suffered a serious-looking knee injury late in camp, briefly giving Bengals fans and fantasy managers nightmares of him missing extended time. He was ultimately fine and should be good to go for Week 1, even if his participation in practice is limited. Per usual, Chase is in the WR1-overall mix versus the Bengals this week.

Tee Higgins (heel contusion) was also spotted at practice after both players were said to be limited participants last week. The Bengals won’t release their first official injury report of the week until Wednesday, but it doesn’t sound like either Chase or Higgins is at risk of missing Week 1’s game against the Buccaneers. As usual, Chase profiles as a high-end fantasy WR1, while Higgins should be viewed more as a WR2 with WR1 upside in any given week.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #1
We’re not viewing this as a major cause for concern; the Bengals have no reason to rush Chase back on the field after he hyperextended his knee last week. If he’s still drawing limited tags on the official injury reports next week, then we can start Panic Mode. Taylor added that Higgins (heel contusion) may also be limited this week. "(Tee) and Ja’Marr will be good at the end of the week,” said Taylor.

Chase was not being tended to on the sideline but did appear to be stretching out his leg and told reporters later that it was ‘just a little hyperextension.’ He didn’t return to practice but wasn’t getting any other medical attention. This is probably just going to wind up being a footnote, but it did scare everybody for a few minutes.

Coming off a triple-crown season in 2024, expectations were sky-high for Chase, with most fantasy managers treating him as the 1.01 in drafts. His and the Bengals’ season, however, was quickly derailed by a turf toe injury to Joe Burrow. Chase totaled 10 catches for 73 yards in Jake Browning’s first two starts of the year. He got on track in Browning’s third start and then kept his foot on the gas after Joe Flacco took over under center. Chase put up his usual video game numbers with Flacco and eventually Burrow on the sticks in the second half of the season. From Week 6 onward, Chase amassed 93 catches for 1,038 yards and five scores. He did, however, miss one game late in the year after being hit with a one-game suspension for spitting on Steelers corner Jalen Ramsey in Week 11. It’s strange to call a 1,400-yard season a disappointment, but Chase could have posted another historic campaign had things gone to plan for Burrow and the team. Still, he has done nothing to dissuade fantasy managers from treating him as the WR1 overall for 2026.

Musing during the week about the fact he had not scored since Week 7, Chase naturally responded with the 13th multi-score effort of his increasingly-illustrious career. No. 1 was a 13-yard YAC job on a first quarter quick out. No. 2 was an eight-yarder on a second quarter goal-line slant. Leading 30-7 midway through the third quarter and 37-7 before the frame was through, the Bengals then took the air out of the ball for the entire fourth quarter. Stacking up absurd stats as always, Chase is just three receptions away from his second straight 120-catch campaign. He should be rocking and rolling early against the Browns in Week 18.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Derrick Harmon (foot) “is expected to miss a few weeks.”

Rapoport noted that IR is an option, but the injury is not considered long-term. Harmon suffered the foot injury on Thursday against the Browns. He was carted to the locker room and was later spotted wearing a boot on the sidelines. The second-year tackle had 1.5 sacks in three games before leaving Week 4 early. His potential breakout campaign will now be put on hold for upwards of a month.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Sam LaPorta and the Lions “have broken off contract talks.”

Rapoport did note that the Lions could make another push to sign LaPorta later this year, so the door isn’t entirely closed. LaPorta is set to become a free agent next offseason. The team could, however, place the franchise tag on him. He has gotten off to a quiet start with 14 catches for 144 yards and one score. LaPorta is currently on pace for a career-low in yards per game. He would still have plenty of suitors in free agency, even if the counting stats don’t improve this year.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Baker Mayfield (thumb) is expected to miss “anywhere from three to six weeks.”

Previous reports put the timeline at 2-4 weeks, so it’s possible the injury is worse than initially expected. The good news is that testing revealed no ligament or tendon damage in Mayfield’s thumb. Per Schefter, Mayfield’s return will depend on how quickly he can grip the ball. That is typically the first step in throwing a football. For now, UDFA rookie Jalon Daniels will draw the start. He is worth a look in Superflex leagues but can’t be played in one-quarterback formats.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Ladd McConkey (foot) is likely to play in Week 4 against the Seahawks.

McConkey was limited in Wednesday’s practice, downgraded to a DNP on Thursday, and returned for another limited session on Friday. It looks like the team was just heavily managing his workload during the week, but that could continue into today’s game. McConkey has been the only modestly successful part of the offense this year, and the Chargers would be wise to keep him healthy, even if that means limiting his snaps. He remains in the WR2 mix, though the injury makes him a riskier bet than usual.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Rams “do not intend to limit” Puka Nacua’s workload in Week 4 against the Eagles.

Looks like we’ve got ourselves an old-fashioned source-off here. Schefter says Nacua won’t be limited, while The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero said over the weekend that Nacua may be on “a stricter snap count than usual.” Even if his snaps are cut back, Nacua is one of the best per-route receivers in the NFL. He will get by for fantasy managers in whatever role the Rams give him. He is, at worst, a low-end WR1 for Week 4.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Jalen Coker (quad) is “unlikely to play” in Week 4 against the Lions.

Coker injured his quad in Week 3. He got in two limited practices this week before being listed as questionable. It doesn’t sound like a long-term injury, but the team is being cautious with a young wideout who has already suffered multiple lower-body injuries this year. With Xavier Legette on IR, Brycen Tremayne is Carolina’s WR2 for Week 4.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Zay Flowers (hamstring) is “good to go” for Week 4 against the Titans.

Fowler added that Flowers is not expected to be on a “hard pitch count.” The Ravens will presumably keep tabs on his injured hamstring, but as long as he feels good, Flowers will get his normal allotment of snaps. Despite exiting Week 1 early and being on a snap count last week, Flowers is averaging six catches for 117 yards across two appearances this year. He will make the WR1 cut next week if he puts up similar numbers today.

Ashton Dulin (ankle) will play in Week 4 against the Commanders.

With Keenan Allen ruled out and Alec Pierce on IR, Dulin is now in line to be the Colts’ No. 2 receiver in his season debut. The passing attack will run through Josh Downs, putting him comfortably inside the WR2 ranks. Inactive for the Colts are WR Keenan Allen, WR Darius Slayton, RB DJ Giddens, QB Riley Leonard, EDGE George Gumbs, and OG Dalton Tucker.

Commanders declared Terry McLaurin (hamstring) inactive for Week 4 against the Colts.

McLaurin was a late addition to the injury report after tweaking his hamstring on Friday. He was initially expected to play through the issue, but things took a turn for the worse over the weekend. Stefon Diggs will operate as the team’s clear No. 1 receiver until McLaurin is back. Inactive for the Commanders are QB Jayden Daniels, RB Rachaad White, WR Luke McCaffrey, S Nick Cross, EDGE Javontae Jean-Baptiste, and OG Sam Cosmi.

Panthers elevated WR Ja’Seem Reed from the practice squad.

This is notable considering head coach Dave Canales previously said that the team would only elevated Reed if Coker couldn’t go in Week 4. Coker, listed as questionable, now appears on the worse side of the designation ahead of a Week 4 meeting with the Lions on Sunday Night Football. Fantasy managers are better off making contingent plans now considering the Panthers are the penultimate game of the week.
