Malik Nabers (knee) resumed practicing on Thursday.

Nabers is currently going through route running drills with his position group, putting him on track to play in Week 5 against the Commanders. Nabers sat out yesterday, citing extra soreness in his surgically repaired knee, but told ESPN’s Jordan Raanan that he usually feels better as the week progresses. A WR1 finish is in play this week, assuming he is active. He was later listed as limited on Thursday.
Defense costs Cowboys again vs. UDFA QB Daniels
Dan Patrick recaps the TNF action that saw the Buccaneers beat the Cowboys in Arlington, where the offense sputtered and shoddy defense cost the home team once again while facing UDFA rookie QB Jalon Daniels.

It was presumed that Nabers would play after sitting out Wednesday with soreness in his surgically repaired knee. Though this is just our speculation, the Giants may take it easier on their star receiver this week after he hauled in 6/112/1 against the Cardinals in Week 4. He remains on the WR2 line in what has been (when not facing the Cardinals) a rough offense with Jameis Winston under center.

Earlier today, The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reported that Nabers sat in the rehab section, speaking with the team’s head trainer during individual drills before seemingly going through some sort of rehab routine. ESPN’s Jordan Raanan then reported that Nabers said he was feeling “more sore than usual,” and “did as much as he could at practice.” When asked whether this could affect his ability to play in Week 5 against the Commanders, Nabers said, “we’ll see,” adding that it usually gets better as the week progresses. We tentatively expect Nabers to play, though this is worth monitoring closely.

Nabers’ first 100-yard game of the season almost didn’t happen after he re-injured his shoulder on a soaring first quarter reception, his first catch of the afternoon. He thankfully shook it off and went on to score his first touchdown, as well, a 25-yarder in the second quarter. He got matched up 1-on-1 with LB Mack Wilson, and Jameis Winston did not miss. It was a desperately needed outing for fantasy managers who were beginning to wonder if Nabers would even produce WR2 returns, let alone WR1. The top 12 is probably still a little far fetched, but this was an encouraging outing heading into next week’s road date with the Commanders.

The good news is that Nabers didn’t appear bothered by his shoulder injury and led the Giants with a 27 percent target share. The bad news is everything else. With Jameis Winston under center, the Giants took the air out of the ball and ran 33 times compared to just 22 pass attempts. Winston also stuck mostly to check-down duties, taking any chance of a big play for Nabers off the table. The Giants should be forced to throw more next week, but this isn’t going to be an exciting offense without Jaxson Dart under center. Nabers is likely stuck in the WR2 ranks for Week 4 versus the Cardinals.

It sure didn’t seem like he had great chemistry with Jameis Winston on Monday night, leaving Nabers feeling more like a mid-range WR2 than someone you’d really want to count on to carry you to victory in what will be a windy Week 3 game against the Titans. Still, he’s fully healthy and got in full practices in each of the last two days of the week to clear the injury report.

Nabers speaking to the media is likely also good news for his availability on Sunday. The 23-year-old wideout is practicing and upgraded to full today, so he’s likely to be good to go and has a chance at avoiding a questionable tag on Friday altogether.

Nabers hurt his shoulder in the Giants’ Week 2 loss to the Rams, staying in the game and catching zero passes after the injury. The Giants had a walkthrough practice on Wednesday, listing Nabers as limited. When asked if the 23-year-old had X-rays done, head coach John Harbaugh gave his usual vague answer, saying, “I don’t know.” A limited practice listing indicates Nabers is not dealing with a major issue, but his practice status is worth monitoring leading up to Week 3 against the Titans.

Nabers departed the game at the end of the first quarter with a shoulder injury but was able to return after missing only one drive. His putrid box score can largely be attributed to uneven quarterback play from backup Jameis Winston, whom came on in relief of the injured Jaxson Dart after the team’s first possession. Beyond the fact that fantasy managers were left with a near goose egg from their third round selection, Nabers could be forced to contend with backup-level quarterback play in the coming weeks considering the mechanism of Dart’s knee injury. Even so, it will be difficult to sit Nabers in a cake matchup with the Titans in Week 3, making him a classic hold-your-breath start.

Nabers left at the end of the first quarter with an apparent shoulder injury but returned to the game half way through the second quarter. Nabers has had a right shoulder issue dating back to his college days, something that could help to explain how he was injured on what looked to be a routine play. Fantasy managers can breathe a quick sigh of relief, at least for the time being.

Nabers appeared to injure his shoulder late in the first quarter on what looked to be a routine play. He went up to attempt a contested catch and came down holding his shoulder. He immediately walked off the field and was seen in visible pain while be attended to by trainers. The team deemed him questionable to return shortly thereafter. Nabers caught 1-of-2 targets for one yard prior to departing.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said LT Tyler Guyton’s back injury is not considered serious.

This is good news. Guyton was replaced by OT Broderick Jones for the Cowboys’ final possession in Week 5 against the Buccaneers. Guyton and the rest of the Cowboys have an extended time off to rest and rehab their injuries after playing on Thursday night.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Jayden Daniels (elbow) is “not 100 percent” healthy yet.

Rapoport, typically cheery on the injury front, said that there are still “a lot of questions, going forward, for Jayden Daniels.” The bottom line is that Daniels is still rehabbing the elbow in his non-throwing arm. He should be able to throw and run effectively, putting him squarely in the QB1 tier, but re-injury risk remains a factor.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Justin Jefferson (ankle) plans to play in Week 5 against the Saints, but the team “has to see how he feels on Saturday.”

This is great news. We will not have to wait for the dreaded game-time decision call with Jefferson this time around. If active, Jefferson should be started as a WR1 against the Saints. He remained limited in practice all week. We will provide an update on the matter as soon as possible.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Terry McLaurin (hamstring) will “most likely” be a game-time decision for Week 5 against the Giants.

Keep it locked to Rotoworld, folks. Hopefully, we get word on McLaurin’s status on Saturday, but it appears as though we may have to wait until Sunday morning. Fowler adds that rookie WR Antonio Williams “could be a factor in the passing game regardless of whether McLaurin plays.”

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Seattle’s Week 6 Thursday Night Football game against the Broncos makes Zach Charbonnet’s (knee) ramp-up “tricky.”

Charbonnet is on schedule in his rehab program and “will be ready to ramp up his work next week.” Unfortunately, the Seahawks will have scaled-down practices as they prepare for their Thursday Night Football game. It sounds like Charbonnet is close to returning, but team doctors might want to see how his knee responds to a full week or practicing before clearing him. A condensed practice week indeed makes that tricky. Stay tuned.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Ravens “do not know” whether Lamar Jackson (ankle) will play in Week 6 against the Browns.

Earlier this week, Rapoport said Jackson had an “outside chance” of suiting up in Week 5 against the Falcons, but it sounds like the situation is a little more fluid than expected. With Tyler Huntley under center, the Ravens’ pass-catching corps takes a small hit, though Zay Flowers remains a must-start.

Colby Parkinson (knee/shoulder) practiced in full on Friday.

Parkinson is unlikely to be startable as a TE1 if he plays on Monday night, but his return will likely reduce Tyler Higbee’s snap share. Higbee has been TE1-viable in each of the last two weeks.

Aaron Donald (back) practiced in full on Friday.

This is a good sign for Donald. Meanwhile, CB Jaylen Watson (shoulder) remained limited and star S Quentin Lake (hip) remained sidelined. Watson starts in the No. 2 perimeter cornerback role, while Lake serves as the primary nickel cornerback and part-time safety. Missing either player would be notable.

Joshua Palmer (shoulder) was added to the injury report on Friday.

Palmer seemingly injured his shoulder in practice today. The Bills may already be without WR DJ Moore (shoulder) on Monday night. While Palmer is not relevant in 12-team leagues, his potential absence would improve Keon Coleman’s stock.

DJ Moore (shoulder) did not practice on Friday.

The Bills’ No. 1 wide receiver is on the wrong side of questionable for his team’s Monday Night Football game against the Rams. Moore sprained the AC joint in his left shoulder in Week 2. He aggravated it in Week 4 with a hard fall and was unable to continue playing. If active, Moore will be a risk-reward WR2.
