NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Puka Nacua’s calf injury is not considered “a significant injury.”

As far as Nacua’s long-term status goes, this sounds like good news overall. However, Rapoport also noted that Nacua’s status for Sunday’s game against the Raiders could be “up in the air.” With Friday’s practice still to go, Nacua’s status will be one to look for later in the day, as will his designation entering the weekend. If he draws a questionable tag, fantasy managers should treat him as a true game-day decision and have a backup plan in place should be unable to play this week. Given the 4:25 PM EST start time for this game, Rams WR Konata Mumpfield could be on a short list of players worth stashing until we know more about Nacua’s availability.

Nacua, with Davante Adams (hamstring) sidelined, again dominated targets in the newly run-heavy LA offense. No other Rams pass catcher saw more than four targets on the day. Nacua’s touchdown came on a well-designed screen in the second half at the end of a long drive for the run-first Rams offense. Nacua, who had 41 targets over his prior four games, is among the safest players in fantasy football. He matches up against the Commanders in Week 9.

Nacua, dealing with a calf injury, didn’t appear to be 100 percent but still got by just fine against a beatable Vegas secondary. He caught one of Matthew Stafford’s three touchdowns and led the Rams offense with ten targets. Nacua has a good chance of leading the NFL in targets for the remainder of the season with Davante Adams (hamstring) out indefinitely. His role in the LA offense makes Nacua one of the most dangerous fantasy options in the game. He gets the Chargers secondary in Week 8.

Start him. The Rams clearly feel comfortable with their superstar playing today, and we should too. Nacua’s upside is too high for him to remain on fantasy football benches. Reporting on Nacua’s ailment suggests he is not necessarily dealing with a strain. It can perhaps be best described as muscle fatigue, though we are doctors here at Rotoworld. Re-injury is possible, but we can safely expect him to handle a large workload whenever he is on the field. Nacua is a high-end WR1.

Nacua is going to test out his calf issue in warmups. Rapoport said Nacua isn’t necessarily dealing with a calf strain. He simply didn’t feel he could explode like he needed to. Nacua’s groin injury was described similarly earlier this year. Fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on this injury ahead of kickoff. If Nacua can’t go, Jordan Whittington will take on a larger role in the offense.

The fact that Nacua is not practicing today is a bad sign for his Week 7 availability. Ever the injury-related optimist, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported earlier today that Nacua’s injury is “more minor than anything else,” though he quickly balanced the scales by then saying that he would not call Nacua’s quick trip to the imaging room “precautionary, because it’s not nothing.” If active, Nacua should be in fantasy football lineups because his talent and workload are almost unparalleled. Unfortunately, coach Sean McVay told reporters that Nacua felt that “he wasn’t able to have some of the power and full explosion.” Nacua is on the wrong side of questionable, and the Rams obviously do not want his injury to worsen.
  • LA Wide Receiver #12
Brutal. The Rams lost Davante Adams to a hamstring tendon rupture in Week 6 against the Cardinals, and now they could be without Nacua in Week 7 against the Raiders. The Rams have handled star-player injuries smartly this season. Consider Nacua highly questionable to play, and seek out a backup plan. Konata Mumpfield would serve as the de facto No. 1 wide receiver if Nacua is unable to play.
  • LA Wide Receiver #12
The Cardinals’ pass rush derailed the Rams’ offensive game plan early on, and Nacua was held without a target until just under 11 minutes remaining in the second quarter. Heartbreak struck on the Rams’ sixth drive. Nacua shook his coverage defender on a hitch-and-go and had no one between him and the end zone. Matthew Stafford let it rip, but was hit during the throw. Nacua dove for what should have been a 65-yard touchdown, but the pass fell incomplete. Nacua had another close call late in the game, dragging a defender for half of his downfield route, on what was ultimately flagged for DPI, but the defender’s unscrupulous tactic prevented Nacua from hauling in a 45-yarder at the Cardinals’ 10-yard line. Fortunately, Nacua and Stafford linked up for 42- and 16-yard gains on their lone touchdown-scoring drive at the end of the game, salvaging Nacua’s box score. He’s an elite WR1 against the Raiders next week.

Nacua operated as the primary option through the air for a Rams team that attempted more than 50 passes for the third straight game. The veteran alpha was mostly confined to short-area work, something that could be attributed to the groin injury that continues to have his name on the injury report in practice, but that would not keep Nacua from returning another elite WR1 performance. Nacua was also inches away from padding his stat line further after failing to come down with what would have been a 51-yard touchdown reception on the final play of the first half. Nacua and the Rams fall to 2-3 ahead of a Week 6 divisional showdown against the Cardinals, where he will remain one of the top fantasy assets in the league.

Nacua’s rushing score came on a second quarter end-around. Out there for the first time since Week 1, Nacua did what he always seems to do when active and post a dominant statline. We say “active” rather than “healthy,” as FOX’s Erin Andrews confirmed during the broadcast Nacua is dealing with some sort of sports-hernia situation. That could make him something of a week-to-week proposition but hopefully the superstar wideout has found some way to manage the pain for the rest of the season. He has a Week 5 smash spot in the Bills’ shootout-prone defense. He will also have an extra day to get healthy with the game taking place on Monday Night Football.

Andrews broke the news while reporting from the sideline of the Rams’ Week 4 game against the Eagles. Signs have been pointing to this type of injury for a while now, with the Rams referring to Nacua’s nagging injury as both a hip and groin issue. Just over two minutes remain in the third quarter, and Nacua has only come off the field for a few plays thus far. It appears as though the team has handled the injury well, though one imagines re-injury risk is still a factor. That said, he is a WR1 whenever he is active.

Tyler Huntley (toe) is out for the remainder of the season.

Further evaluation of Huntley’s toe injury showed it was a season ender. That leaves the Ravens desperate at quarterback for the remainder of the season. Against the Jaguars on Thursday night the team is likely to start Joe Fagnano. It’s unclear who will serve as the team’s backup quarterback this week or going forward. Zay Flowers goes from an elite weekly fantasy option to something closer to a WR3 in this degraded offensive environment. Derrick Henry’s prospects take a major knock too.

Browns placed Deshaun Watson in the NFL’ s concussion protocol.

Watson took a hit to the head in the first half of the Browns’ Week 8 loss to the Steelers. He was evaluated for a brain injury and re-entered the game. He then reported concussion-like symptoms on Tuesday and entered the protocol on Wednesday. It would be somewhat surprising if Watson is able to clear the protocol in time for the Browns’ Week 9 matchup against the Saints. That would likely mean Shedeur Sanders would get the starting nod against New Orleans. Sanders should only be rostered in superflex formats for now.

Brandon Aiyuk submitted paperwork to the NFL for his reinstatement.

Aiyuk’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed the development on Wednesday, and said Aiyuk would report to the 49ers on Friday. That could expedite his release from the team so he could seek employment with another, presumably wideout-needy NFL team. Aiyuk’s erratic behavior over the past year and questions about his conditioning could prevent some teams from pursuing him. “Brandon is healthy and ready to get back on the field,” Rosenhaus said. He had been closely linked to the Commanders before a series of online meltdowns in the offseason. The Rams could be in the market for Aiyuk with Davante Adams (hamstring) sidelined indefinitely. Aiyuk is still unlikely to have any fantasy value this season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Mack Hollins (calf) will return to practice Wednesday.

Hollins has been on injured reserve for a month with a calf injury. With a full practice today he’ll have a good chance of suiting up in Week 9 against the Packers. Hollins will likely function as Drake Maye’s primary downfield option if A.J. Brown remains sidelined. Hollins’ return dings the fantasy prospects of DeMario Douglas, who has an 18 percent target share and a 19 percent air yards share over the team’s past three games. Hollins will be flex viable in deeper formats.

    Eagles waived CB Jakorian Bennett.

Bennett was acquired by the Eagles in a swap with the Raiders before the start of last season. The 26-year-old played 98 defensive snaps in two seasons for Philly, spending all of the 2026 season on injured reserve with a knee injury. The Eagles now waive Bennett from injured reserve.

The Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson said “indications point to Broncos WR Pat Bryant returning to practice this week.”

Bryant has missed the Broncos’ last four games after being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old receiver is eligible to return whenever the Broncos deem him ready to do so, and his practicing this week would mean the team has opened his 21-day return window. Bryant has caught nine passes for 133 yards and one touchdown and was third among Broncos receivers in routes run (91) through the first four weeks of the season. He could make for an interesting stash in deeper leagues, but fantasy managers shouldn’t rush to put him in their lineups whenever he does return.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Brian Thomas Jr. “has been the area of interest for a lot of other teams.”

Thomas is once again the subject of trade talks as next week’s trade deadline rapidly approaches. The 24-year-old receiver, who broke out for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, has earned just 22 targets through seven games this season and has a 10-117-2 line. With so many wide receiver-needy teams out there, it’s hard to imagine the Jaguars holding Thomas, who has become more of an afterthought in the offense, but they’ve resisted trading him over the last year despite multiple teams showing interest.

    Saints released K Daniel Carlson.

Carlson has converted 8-of-12 field goals this season and is 16-for-18 on PATs. The veteran kicker who is known for his big leg has seen all four of his misses come on distances of 50-plus yards, but that was more than enough for the Saints to look in a different direction. Practice squad kicker Charlie Smyth, who converted 12 of his 16 field goal attempts for the Saints last season has a chance to be the next man up when the Saints take on the Browns in Week 9.

Ravens placed K Tyler Loop (groin) on injured reserve.

Loop will be sidelined for at least the next four weeks after suffering a right groin injury in Sunday’s loss to the Bills. The second-year kicker competed for the starting kicker job in camp and has struggled during parts of this season. He has converted on 13 of his 17 field goal attempts this year, with his four misses all coming from inside 50 yards. Veteran Jake Moody is set to take over in Loop’s absence when the Ravens face the Jaguars on Thursday night. Loop will be eligible to return in Week 14 when the Ravens play host to the Buccaneers.

Giants signed CB Greg Newsome to a three-year, $46 million contract extension.

Newsome signed a one-year $8 million contract with the Giants this offseason and is now being rewarded for his strong play during the first half of this season. The 26-year-old corner has allowed just 174 receiving yards on 26 targets this season, per PFF, earning a coverage grade of 66.1. He has been one of the league’s better outside corners this season and will now be under contract with the Giants through the 2029 season.
