Bo Nix completed 20-of-32 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos’ 28-24, Week 8 win over the Chiefs.

Fittingly, Nix’s longest completion of the day was a dump-off to Jonah Coleman that the rookie turned into a 51-yard gain. Nix has two completions of 50+ yards this year. Both have gone to running backs on throws near or behind the line of scrimmage. On the other hand, when Nix did push the ball downfield versus Kansas City, he was largely effective. He completed 4-of-6 throws farther than nine yards downfield. It was a small step in the right direction after weeks of middling production on intermediate and downfield shots. Nix will look to build on this performance versus a beatable Carolina defense in Week 9. He will sit somewhere near the top of the QB2 ranks.
Do the Cowboys' problems start with coaching?
Jason Garrett, Devin McCourty and Jac Collinsworth react to Jerry Jones' comments on the Cowboys' coaching situation, questioning if the team's problems start with Brian Schottenheimer and the staff.

Per usual, Nix had a quiet day through the air, which is doubly true when you realize 52 of his yards and his lone touchdown came on an RJ Harvey screen. Nix struggled to get his deep ball going, missing several long shots that would have padded out an otherwise lacking box score. On the other hand, fantasy managers won’t be complaining after seeing his rushing line, which was largely the result of a 62-yard rushing touchdown late in the first half. Denver sent nearly all of their eligible pass catchers to the right side of the field, opening up a running lane big enough for at least one 18-wheeler. Facing a much stingier Chiefs defense in Week 8, we don’t expect another elite fantasy showing from Nix next week. He will be on the QB1/2 border for the AFC West showdown.

“He is going to become the byproduct of all the finer things that get improved. The improved play from our offensive line; the more efficient we are relative to downs; running the football. That’s our job as coaches here,” Payton said. Nix has been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league through six starts and Jay Glazer passed along word yesterday that Payton changed the terminology that OC Davis Webb had put in this offseason back to what it was last season, which apparently did not help Nix out. He’ll be hard to trust even with a slapdash Cardinals defense on tap for Week 7.

The Broncos managed just 168 yards of total offense on a night their defense carried them to victory in overtime. Nine of the Broncos’ 11 possessions, excluding the two kneel downs to end each half, ended in punts on drives that lasted five plays or fewer. Two second quarter touchdown drives had the Broncos playing with a lead for much of the game but they were otherwise unable to move the football with any consistency. An overtime interception by nickel corner Ja’Quan McMillian allowed for a game-winning, 53-yard field goal from kicker Will Lutz after the Broncos again failed to gain a first down. The win sends Denver to 4-2 while averaging only 18.7 points per game through six weeks. The team gets a scheduling gift with the Cardinals on deck in Week 7, although Nix cannot be treated as a starter-worthy fantasy asset outside of the deepest leagues.

Nix also added 10 yards on the ground on his four carries. He once again wasn’t able to get the ball downfield, with a long passing gain of 34 yards on a busted coverage. He was at least able to find Courtland Sutton for a short touchdown, but this was an ugly day for both signal-callers. Nix is no more than a QB2 for a matchup against the tough Seattle defense in Week 6, and it’s worth noting that game takes place Thursday night.

Nix’s play — including missing easy intermediate throws in the first half — left Broncos offensive coordinator Davis Webb without answers, a common theme so far this season. His lone touchdown came on a garbage time score to Jaylen Waddle. Nix was in check-down mode throughout the game against the Niners, finishing with a 4.9 aDOT. He was 5 percent under his expected completion rate, targeting his running backs 12 times. Until Webb and Sean Payton figure out the offense, Nix will be a superflex-only fantasy option without much of a weekly ceiling. He gets the Chargers in Week 5.

The Broncos were shut out in the first half amidst consistent struggles from Nix, who, for his part, turned in solid production in a third quarter that saw the Broncos knot the game at 16 through two touchdowns and successful two-point conversions. Nix and the Broncos would struggle to move the football again in the fourth quarter but a pick-six from safety Talanoa Hufanga gave them the lead with under five minutes to play. Stafford returned blows to send the Rams to a three-point lead before Nix’s game-winning score from one yard out. That final drive was aided by three key penalties to go against the Rams, the final of which was questionable, to put it kindly. Josh Wallace appeared to intercept Nix for the second time in the fourth quarter but a defensive pass interference penalty was called, giving the Broncos renewed life. Hufanga would intercept Stafford for a second time in the fourth quarter, this time in the end zone, to seal the victory for the Broncos as time expired. Nix and offensive coordinator Davis Webb have not looked good through three games despite the team’s 2-1 record, and will need to clean things up ahead of another NFC West showdown against the 49ers in Week 4. Nix is currently nothing more than a middling QB2.

It was an uneven day for Nix, who missed some routine throws and threw a bad pick in the end zone while targeting Courtland Sutton. He targeted Jaylen Waddle heavily and connected with Waddle for a 49-yard gain in the first half, regularly attacking the Jaguars secondary downfield. After taking far too many sacks in Week 1 against the Chiefs, Nix was not sacked against a solid Jaguars pass rush on Sunday. Nix’s lack of early-season rushing success has dinged his fantasy prospects a bit. He’s a fine superflex option for Week 3 against the Rams, however.

Nix during his postgame presser defended offensive play caller Davis Webb, who took over for head coach Sean Payton this offseason. “The players did not make it easy on [Webb] today,” said Nix, who completed 17-of-28 passes for 131 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in Monday night’s loss to Kansas City. “Pretty pitiful, actually.” Denver had the league’s second lowest drop back EPA of Week 1; only the Falcons were worse. Nix, meanwhile, ranked 28th out of 32 qualifying QBs in Week 1 accuracy. “We called exactly what we prepared for and what we wanted to get to and we just didn’t execute,” Nix said. “Then we were behind.” Webb and the Broncos will look to bounce back in Week 2 against a tough Jaguars defense.

Nix and the rest of the Denver offense struggled throughout against Steve Spagnuolo’s Kansas City defense, gaining fewer yards as a team (176) than opposing running back Kenneth Walker (191). Things seemed to be clicking early after the Broncos were able to knot the game at seven in the first quarter, but quickly fell apart under unrelenting pressure. The poor offensive showing is sure to draw criticism in the media considering it was the first game called by first-time offensive coordinator Davis Webb after head coach Sean Payton relinquished play calling duties this offseason. Whether that setup continues remains to be seen and we wouldn’t be shocked if Webb failed to make it through the first six weeks still calling plays. The Broncos hold the league’s most difficult schedule through the first six weeks, with games against Jaguars, Rams, 49ers, Chargers, and Seahawks on the immediate horizon. Nix could regain form against the pass-funnel Jaguars in Week 2, where he will be a back-end QB1.
  • DEN Quarterback #10
Nix looked mobile and eager to chuck it downfield. He even had a few overthrows, which we suppose is a good thing for a quarterback who spent the offseason rehabbing an ankle injury. The Broncos quarterback linked up with new WR Jaylen Waddle for a 35-yard gain down the seam and targeted WR Courtland Sutton a couple of times along the sideline. He found tonight’s starting RB RJ Harvey speeding down the right side of the field on a wheel route, and linked up with the second-year running back for a 21-yard touchdown to conclude the first drive. New OC Davis Webb regularly dialed up play action, which is great for fantasy purposes. Nix looks like a low-end QB1.

Chig Okonkwo caught 2-of-4 targets for 32 yards in the Commanders’ Week 8 win over the Eagles.

Okonkwo flashed his athletic ability with a full-stretch reception in the second half but it was not enough to overshadow a first quarter fumble. The spry veteran has now been held to four receptions or fewer in four of five appearances in the low volume Washington pass offense, unable to return consistent fantasy value through the absence of Terry McLaurin. He is best left on fantasy benches in a Week 9 matchup against the Rams.

Stefon Diggs caught 3-of-6 targets for 38 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ Week 8 win over the Eagles.

Offensive coordinator David Blough ha made good on his promise not to increase the route participation or snap rate of the veteran receiver in the absence of Terry McLaurin, effectively keeping Diggs relegated to a situational role primarily from the slot. That has left Treylon Burks and rookie Antonio Williams to lead the team in routes the previous two weeks while limiting the true ceiling of Diggs in the process. Consider Diggs a touchdown-dependent FLEX option in a difficult matchup against the Rams in Week 9.

Antonio Williams caught 5-of-7 targets for 54 yards in the Commanders’ Week 8 win over the Eagles.

Williams mostly operated in a short area role but added a 30-yard grab up the seam in the fourth quarter to pad his counting stats for fantasy managers hoping on a second-half rookie breakout. While the fantasy returns have yet to pop, managers can continue to hold the electric rookie in the hopes his role grows in the coming weeks. That said, he is likely best left on fantasy benches until his route structure improves.

Treylon Burks caught 3-of-5 targets for 81 yards in the Commanders’ Week 8 win over the Eagles.

A 53-yard reception toward the end of the third quarter did the bulk of the damage for Burks, who continues to give the Commanders their best deep option in the absence of Terry McLaurin. That doesn’t necessarily mean he carries weekly fantasy value considering the poor state of a Washington offense that got its first win in a Jayden Daniels start since 5 October of 2025. Burks is likely best left on the waiver wire ahead of a Week 9 meeting with the Rams.

Rachaad White rushed 11 times for 55 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ Week 8 win over the Eagles, adding five yards on two receptions.

White averaged just over two yards per carry on his first eight attempts before breaking loose for a 33-yard gain entering the final two minutes of the fourth quarter. He would find the end zone two plays later to salvage an otherwise underwhelming fantasy outing while operating in a three-way timeshare with Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols. Although White’s fantasy value is clearly higher in the absence of Jacory Croskey-Merritt, his performance in Week 8 goes down as his first fantasy-viable start through the first eight weeks of the 2026 season. Fantasy managers are likely better off exploring alternatives ahead of a poor matchup against the Rams in Week 9.

Jayden Daniels completed 16-of-29 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ 27-10, Week 8 win over the Eagles, adding 23 yards on two carries.

Daniels started the game going 4-of-10 passing in the first quarter, which included an interception that was called back due to penalty, two false start penalties in the red zone, and a missed field goal, causing the Commanders to quickly fall into a 10-point deficit. They would clean things up from there as they rattled off 27 unanswered points to improve to 2-4-1 as they chase the division-leading Giants. A 53-yard completion to Treylon Burks and 30-yard completions to Antonio Williams and Stefon Diggs gave the offense explosive plays in key situations during the final three frames to boost Daniels’ counting stats despite poor efficiency. The win was the first victory in a Daniels start since 5 October of the 2025 season as the Commanders saved their season, at least for the moment. They get a difficult matchup against the Rams in Week 9, where Daniels will remain a middling QB2.

Dallas Goedert caught 3-of-4 targets for 30 yards in the Eagles’ Week 8 loss to the Commanders, adding two yards on one carry.

Goedert also committed a drop that was intercepted in the down performance, although the play in question was overturned through penalty. The veteran tight end continues to be limited by an ineffective offense with Tanner McKee under center in what has quickly become a lost season after the team’s sixth consecutive loss. Fantasy managers are likely better off looking for viable alternatives ahead of a Week 9 divisional clash with the Giants.

Makai Lemon caught 6-of-9 targets for 57 yards in the Eagles’ Week 8 loss to the Commanders.

Lemon led the team in receiving for the second consecutive game without both DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, although the returns were nothing to write home about in Week 8. Largely confined to a short area role, Lemon’s nine targets were mostly the product of the offense’s inability to attack downfield and carry weak per-target upside, a trend likely to continue for as long as Tanner McKee remains under center. That leaves fantasy managers in a precarious position heading into a Week 9 showdown against the Giants, where better options likely exist.

Saquon Barkley rushed 13 times for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ Week 8 loss to the Commanders, adding 24 yards on one reception.

Barkley showed clear limitations as he played through hamstring and back injuries, routinely spotted on the sideline riding the stationary bike and getting stretched out by trainers as he rotated with Elijah Mitchel. The Philadelphia offense remained largely ineffective as they gained only 268 yards of total offense, while Barkley’s longest carry of the game went for only five yards against a solid Washington run defense. Fantasy managers will want to consider their alternatives when the Eagles face the Giants in Week 9.

Tanner McKee completed 23-of-34 passes for 212 yards and one interception in the Eagles’ 27-10, Week 8 loss to the Commanders, adding 25 yards on four carries.

The Eagles scored the first 10 points of the game as they looked to be in control early. Things quickly went south following numerous mental mistakes, penalties, and poor execution, eventually leading to the Commanders scoring 27 straight to send Philadelphia to their sixth consecutive loss. The Eagles continue to have no downfield ability while playing through mounting injuries, with their longest play of the game coming on the final play from scrimmage on a meaningless down. That leaves very little room for error with things like penalties, drops, and sacks, all of which were present in Week 8. McKee and the Eagles limp into another divisional matchup in Week 9 against the Giants, where McKee will carry negligible fantasy value.
