Shawn Stefani shook off a missed cut last week at the Korn Ferry Tour’s inaugural Lake Charles Championship by Monday qualifying for the Valero Texas Open, posting a bogey-free, 5-under 66 at the Club at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas.
Also qualifying Monday were Australia’s Aaron Baddeley, who earned medalist honors with a 6-under 66, Jake Kevorkia and Samuel Saunders, a 30-year-old from New Mexico who will make his PGA Tour debut. In six KFT starts this year, Stefani has made two cuts, and he’s 0-for-1 in PGA Tour starts this season, missing the cut at the Houston Open in November. The 40-year-old Stefani, a Houston resident, has made six previous starts at TPC San Antonio, making three cuts with a best finish of T-26 in 2015.
