The Illinois native and resident, making his tourney debut on a sponsor invite, bags his first top 10 in nine career TOUR events, eight of those this season and five of those via open-qualifying. He was all set to travel and attempt to Monday Q again for this coming week’s Barbasol, but won’t have to now after posting rounds of 70-66-68-66, the 66’s in R2 and R4 matching his career best (x3). The 26-year-old, whose previous best among two top 25s was a T17 at this season’s Bermuda back in October (as an OQer), will gain the top-10 exemption into the Barbasol, where he’ll make his event debut. For the week, he totaled one eagle and 17 birdies against five bogeys, and at last glance, ranks 55th SG: Off-the-Tee (-0.700) and 1st SG: Putting (9.367), including a 3.610 SGP in R4 playing alongside Ryder Cup captain and John Deere legend Zach Johnson, who he beat by eight shots in the finale. The 26-year-old Flavin made five birdies, one eagle and one bogey en route to a 6-under 66 on Monday, and it marks his fifth successful attempt this season at Monday qualifying after doing so for the RBC Canadian Open – where he also earned medalist honors, but ultimately missed the cut, at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship (T-17), Puerto Rico Open (T-22), and the Mexico Open at Vidanta, where he missed the cut. Flavin finished T-54 at the Corales Puntacana Championship, where he was given a sponsor’s exemption, and more recently he missed the cut at the AT&T Byron Nelson in May. He can take next Monday off, though, as he’s already a sponsor exemption into the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Illinois. The Miami (Ohio) product has also made two starts on the Korn Ferry Tour last month, missing the cut at the AdventHealth Championship and finishing T-32 at the NV5 Invitational. Also getting into the field at TPC Highlands this week were Ben Silverman, Conrad Shindler and Bo Hoag, all of whom carded a 5-under 67 and avoided a playoff.

He’s a perfect 3-for-3 in cuts made this season after he Monday qualified into the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, where he finished T-17, and the Puerto Rico Open, where he was T-22. Flavin received a sponsor exemption into the Corales Puntacana Championship, where he finished T-54. The Miami (Ohio) product finished No. 6 on 2019 PGA Tour Latinoamerica Order of Merit, and he recorded two top 10s in 13 starts on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2020-21. Flavin currently holds 76 non-member FedExCup points, which would place him No. 196 in the season-long standings, with a top-200 position earning him entry into the KFT Finals in August.

Korn Ferry Tour rookie Christian Salzer took medalist honors Monday, shooting a 7-under 64 that featured eight birdies and one bogey. Flavin’s 65 was a bogey-free effort that included five birdies on the front, three on the back and an eagle at 12. Also playing their way into the field were Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti (65) and Brett Stegmaier (66), who won a 4-for-1 playoff to earn the last spot. The 26-year-old Flavin, who played college golf at Miami (Ohio), told the Monday Q that he’s ready for his first trip to Grand Reserve CC: “Every week is a great opportunity and two weeks ago at the [Phoenix Open Monday qualifier] lost in the (16-for-1) playoff, so that was really kind of gut-wrenching, so to bounce back with this one is huge. And I just think there’s just an amazing opportunity this week.” Flavin’s other Tour start this season came at the Bermuda Championship, where he finished T-17.

This is the Chicago native and Miami (Ohio) alum’s second TOUR event after a missed cut by four at the 2020 WM Phoenix Open, also as an OQer. After opening with 69-66, he began T6, four back of leader Pendrith, and was 5-under thru eight holes (5 birdies) before ending with a pair of bogey-5s at 9 and 18. The World No. 667, who will be in the third-to-last group again in R4, this time with Peter Malnati and Curtis Thompson, is ranked 6th in putts per GIR (1.581) on 57.41 percent (31/54) of greens in regulation. He’s four shots shy of 2nd place at the moment, while any top-10 finish would earn him another start at this coming week’s Mayakoba.

This is the Miami (Ohio) alum’s second TOUR event after a missed cut by four at the 2020 WM Phoenix Open (74-71), also as an open-qualifier. He missed seven cuts and made six weekends last season on the Korn Ferry Tour, posting two top 10s and finished 145th in the points standings, and then following the season, went 3-for-3 on the Forme Tour with two top 10s. Thru 36 holes, the Chicago native and World No. 667 has recorded laps of 69-66 (7-under 135), tallied one eagle and 10 birdies against five bogeys, and currently ranks T30 in Driving Accuracy at 64.29 percent (18/28) and T14 in putts per GIR (1.600).

Producing four birdies and an eagle against one bogey, Flavin carded a round of 5-under 67 on Monday. With a couple of top-10 finishes to his name on the Korn Ferry Tour, the 25-year-old hopes his success there can translate to success at Port Royal Golf Course. Having made his PGA Tour debut at the 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open, Flavin carded rounds of 74-71 and eventually missed the cut.
