Cubs fire traveling secretary after 20 years in organization

We don’t normally do traveling secretary news here at HardballTalk, but this seemed a little more interesting than usual.

Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Cubs have fired traveling secretary Jimmy Bank after 20 years in the organization and a total of 34 years as a traveling secretary for MLB teams.

Sullivan also includes a note about what exactly a traveling secretary does: “As traveling secretary, Bank dealt with charters, hotels, tickets and assorted other day-to-day issues.”
