Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that, while the Athletics are taking calls from interested teams on starter Rich Hill, they’re also discussing a contract extension with the lefty.
Hill, 36, has put together a stellar season with the Athletics. He owns a 2.25 ERA with a 90/28 K/BB ratio in 76 innings. Hill battled injuries and ineffectiveness from 2008-13 but returned and made four solid starts for the Red Sox last September, which allowed him to procure a one-year, $6 million contract last November.
The Athletics are 47-58, tied with the Angels for last place in the AL West. The club has drawn trade interest in Hill as well as starter Sonny Gray and outfielder Josh Reddick.
