White Sox promote Ken Williams to executive vice president, name Rick Hahn general manager

hahn and williams

Today the White Sox made official what was reported more than a month ago, promoting longtime general manager Ken Williams to executive vice president and naming Rick Hahn the new GM.

Hahn, who was Williams’ right-hand man for a long time and was frequently mentioned as a candidate for other teams’ GM openings, also gets the title of senior vice president in addition to GM.

Williams was MLB’s fifth-longest tenured GM with 12 years on the job, during which time the White Sox made the playoffs just twice but won the World Series in 2005 and had a winning record in all but three seasons.
