Tony Kanaan’s primary sponsor for the last Verizon IndyCar Series season will return to the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Chevrolet in 2016.
CGR announced Tuesday that NTT DATA, which sponsored Kanaan in 13 of 16 races in 2015, will be back. The IT services provider and global innovation partner was also the primary sponsoron the No. 8 of Ryan Briscoe in the 2014 season.
“It feels really great to be back with NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing for the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season. 2015 was kind of a roller coaster of a season with some really solid results throughout the year,” Kanaan said in a press release.
Kanaan finished the 2015 season eighth in the driver standings with no wins and three podiums. He placed two spot higher than Sebastien Bourdais, who had two wins.
“I’ve worked with some great people at NTT DATA over the past few years and I’ve been able to use their strengths and assets to better myself as a driver, and being able to do that has just made our partnership that much stronger. I feel very good about the 2016 season and I want nothing more than to get NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing their first of many wins.”
