Knicks D-League team will feature ‘prominent logo placement’ of ads on jerseys

During All-Star weekend in New Orleans this past February, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he believes that placing ads on the front of players’ jerseys is something that will be coming in the not-too-distant future.

“We’re not close at the moment to including sponsors on jerseys,” Silver said at the time. “It’s something that we’re continuing to look at. I believe it ultimately will happen in the NBA. I think it makes good business sense.”

The Knicks D-League team is among the first to take advantage of this particular business opportunity by incorporating ad placement on the front of its jerseys for the upcoming season.

From the official release:

As part of the relationship, Chase will receive prominent logo placement on the Westchester Knicks jersey, a landmark partnership for the new franchise. The Chase logo will appear on both the home and road jerseys, providing the company with unique brand exposure to fans in-arena and other consumers via traditional and digital media platforms.

The Chase logo will also appear on the center court jump circle, on the apron of the court, and in additional locations in the Westchester County Center. The partnership helps build a presence for Chase in Westchester County and beyond, with brand integration across the Westchester Knicks’ promotional and marketing initiatives.

Inside Madison Square Garden, there’s no direction you can turn without seeing the Chase logo prominently displayed. Now, in Westchester, you’ll see it merely by watching the action on the court, as the players pilot something that is an NBA inevitability in the seasons to come.
