Earlier this season, LeBron James had a triple-double rescinded in a way, after the NBA found that both a rebound and an assist from his stat line was credited to him incorrectly by the scorekeeper in Cleveland.
The league said at the time that it reviews every game for mistakes like these, which was honestly a little hard to believe, if only because of the man hours that would be required to essentially re-score every NBA game after it has already been played.
But in keeping with that message, the league issued a scoring correction that wouldn’t matter to anyone but John Henson of the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Raptors won Friday night’s game by 42 points, but the league went back and determined that Henson was somehow credited with a three-point field goal for a shot he made from essentially right in front of the basket with less than two minutes remaining of an already-decided contest.
The official release:The NBA announced today that a scoring error was made during the Milwaukee Bucks-Toronto Raptors game on Nov. 21 at Air Canada Centre, which impacted the final score of the game but not the final outcome of the game.
Bucks forward John Henson was incorrectly credited with a 3-point field goal when he made a jump shot in the lane with 1:44 remaining in the fourth quarter. The game statistics have been corrected and the final score of the game is Toronto 124, Milwaukee 82. Henson’s scoring total has been changed to six points in the official box score.

But it’s nice to know that the league values accuracy above all else, and is taking steps to ensure its statistics achieve that standard 100 percent of the time.
