The Bengals already had ruled out defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (hamstring). They held out slim hope that they would have defensive tackle B.J. Hill, listing him as doubtful for Monday Night Football.

Hill, though, is among the team’s inactives.

The Bengals will have safety Vonn Bell, who was questionable with a back injury.

Cincinnati’s other inactives are wide receiver Trenton Irwin, offensive lineman Jaxson Kirkland, tight end Tanner McClachlan and tight end Tanner Hudson (knee).

The Commanders’ inactives are defensive end Clelin Ferrell (knee), cornerback Emmanuel Forbes (thumb), free safety Darrick Forrest, strong safety Dominique Hampton, quarterback Sam Hartman, offensive guard Chris Paul and running back Colson Yankoff. Hartman will serve as the emergency third quarterback.

The Commanders announced a pair of elevations from the practice squad ahead of Monday night’s game against the Bengals.

Defensive end Andre Jones Jr. and cornerback Bobby Price have been called up. They’ll both revert back to the practice squad after the game.

Jones was a seventh-round pick last year and he had four tackles in 14 appearances during his rookie season. The Commanders ruled Clelin Ferrell out with a knee injury, so Jones gives them more depth up front.

Price played eight special teams snaps in Washington’s Week Two win over the Giants. Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes is questionable to play after having thumb surgery last weekend.

The Bengals elevated defensive tackle Domenique Davis from the practice squad to the active roster for Monday Night Football.

Davis, 28, has not played a regular-season game since 2022.

He played two games that season, seeing action on 38 defensive snaps and three on special teams. Davis has three career tackles.

The Bengals have ruled out defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (hamstring) and defensive tackle B.J. Hill (hamstring) is doubtful.

So, Davis likely gets into the rotation at the position tonight against the Commanders.

There wasn’t much suspense about who will be starting at quarterback for the Panthers in Week Four, but head coach Dave Canales made an announcement at his Monday press conference anyway.

Andy Dalton was 26-of-37 for 319 yards and three touchdowns in Carolina’s 36-22 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas. That was a huge leap up from what the Panthers did on offense with Bryce Young running the offense in back-to-back losses to open the season, so Canales isn’t going to be making any changes.

“Andy’s our quarterback. He gives us the best chance to win,” Canales said. “That’s the approach as we get ready for the Bengals.”

Dalton spent his first nine seasons with the Bengals and it looked like his time as a full-time starter might have ended when that term did, but injuries opened the door to extended runs in Dallas and New Orleans before he joined the Panthers. As long as Dalton stays healthy, it looks like he’ll be back in the saddle for a while.

Defensive end Clelin Ferrell has the only two sacks of the season for the Commanders through the first two weeks of the season, but someone else is going to have to step up if the Commanders are going to drop Joe Burrow on Monday night.

Ferrell has been ruled out of the Commanders’ lineup for their road game in Cincinnati. Ferrell missed practice on Thursday and Saturday with a knee injury, but he was able to work on a limited basis on Friday.

Jamin Davis, Jer’Zhan Newton, and Javontae Jean-Baptiste are the defensive end options on the active roster.

Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes is the only other Commanders player with an injury designation. He missed last week’s game after having thumb surgery and is listed as questionable for Monday.
