The Texans knew when the practice week began they wouldn’t have quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) or kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn (quad) for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.

They also won’t have right tackle Tytus Howard (concussion), right guard Ed Ingram (knee), defensive back Jalen Pitre (concussion), fullback Jakob Johnson (hamstring) or linebacker Christian Harris (shin).

Houston has ruled out all six of them.

Davis Mills will start in place of Stroud, with Blake Fisher at right tackle and Juice Scruggs at right guard.

The Texans list tight end Harrison Bryant (shoulder) as questionable after he returned to full participation in Friday’s practice.

Defensive end Will Anderson (quad) was upgraded to full participation on Friday, and he does not have an injury designation. He has six sacks and 12 quarterback hits this season.

The Jaguars will not have wide receiver Brian Thomas against the Texans on Sunday.

Thomas missed his third straight practice with an ankle injury on Friday and the team officially ruled him out later in the day. It will be the first game that Thomas has missed this season.

With Travis Hunter on injured reserve, Thomas’ absence means the Jaguars could really use an immediate contribution from Jakobi Meyers. Meyers was acquired in a trade with the Raiders earlier this week. Parker Washington, Dyami Brown, Tim Patrick, and Austin Trammell are also set to be available.

Guard Ezra Cleveland (knee, ankle), tight end Hunter Long (hip, knee), and cornerback Jourdan Lewis (neck) have also been ruled out for Week 10.

The Texans saw the return of three players on Thursday.

Running back Nick Chubb (foot), defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (quad) and defensive end Denico Autry (knee) got limited work a day after sitting out practice.

Seven other players missed Wednesday’s practice, with defensive tackle Jalen Pitre (concussion), quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion), kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn (right quad), linebacker Christian Harris (shin) right guard Ed Ingram (knee), right tackle Tytus Howard (concussion) and tight end Harrison Bryant (shoulder) still not practicing.

The Texans added running back Dameon Pierce (personal) to the practice report with limited work.

Wide receiver Braxton Berrios (chest) and tight end Dalton Schultz (knee/shoulder) had full participation a day after being limited.

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud won’t play Sunday against the Jaguars after being diagnosed with a concussion against the Broncos.

Davis Mills will replace Stroud in the starting lineup.

But the Texans have even more injury concerns with nine other players out of practice on Wednesday.

Running back Nick Chubb (foot), right tackle Tytus Howard (concussion), defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (quadriceps), kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn (right quadriceps), tight end Harrison Bryant (shoulder), defensive back Jalen Pitre (concussion), linebacker Christian Harris (shin), right guard Ed Ingram (knee) and defensive end Denico Autry (knee) also didn’t practice.

The Texans have already ruled out Fairbairn, and signed Matthew Wright to the practice squad to replace him.

Wide receiver Braxton Berrios (chest) and tight end Dalton Schultz (knee/shoulder) were limited.

The Jaguars welcomed Jakobi Meyers to the fold on Wednesday, but they were missing another wide receiver on the practice field.

Brian Thomas sat out the team’s first on-field work of Week 10 with an ankle injury. Thomas suffered the injury during last Sunday’s overtime win over the Raiders and his status will be one to watch ahead of the matchup with the Texans.

The Jags have Travis Hunter on injured reserve and Dyami Brown was limited due to a concussion, so Meyers’ arrival is well-timed for a receiving corps in need of healthy bodies.

Left guard Ezra Cleveland (knee, ankle), cornerback Jourdan Lewis (neck), and tight end Hunter Long (hip, knee) were also out of practice. Linebacker Dennis Gardeck (chest), defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton (back), and linebacker Jack Kiser (quad) were listed as limited while linebacker Devin Lloyd (calf), tight end Quintin Morris (groin), and wide receiver Tim Patrick (groin) were full participants.
