The Texans have their top two running backs listed as questionable to play against the Raiders on Sunday, but they are expected to have at least one of them in the lineup.
According to multiple reports, Nick Chubb is expected to return after missing last Sunday’s win over the Cardinals. Chubb has injured ribs, but he was able to practice fully the last two days of the week.
Woody Marks missed two practices with an ankle injury, so he would seem to be less likely to be in the lineup. Jawhar Jordan broke out with 101 yards last Sunday and will join Chubb in the lineup.
Wide receiver Christian Kirk was added to the Houston injury report on Friday because of an illness. He missed practice, but is expected to play against Vegas as well.
Raiders quarterback Geno Smith will start Sunday’s game against the Texans, coach Pete Carroll announced on Friday.
Smith missed last week’s game with a right shoulder injury as well as a back issue, but he was a full participant in all three practices this week.
Smith is expected to remain the starter for the rest of the season, but Carroll said he hopes to see Aidan O’Connell get some snaps. Kenny Pickett started last week’s game in Smith’s stead, and the Raiders had only 75 yards of offense, their lowest output since 1961.
Smith has completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,648 yards with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Cornerback Derek Stingley is one of seven Texans players listed as questionable to play against the Raiders on Sunday.
Stingley missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with an oblique injury, but was able to practice on Friday on a limited basis. Stingley has not missed a game yet this season.
Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (ankle, knee) and defensive lineman Darrell Taylor (ankle) are also listed as questionable on the defensive side of the ball.
Running backs Woody Marks (ankle) and Nick Chubb (ribs) are also part of the group. Marks returned to practice on Friday while Chubb was listed as a full participant the last two days.
Wide receiver Christian Kirk (illness) was added to the report after missing Friday’s practice. Fellow wideout Justin Watson (calf) was a full participant all week. Watson and Taylor will both need to be activated from injured reserve to play this weekend.
The Raiders saw the return of edge rusher Maxx Crosby (knee) on Thursday.
Crosby, who missed Wednesday’s session, got limited work.
Safety Jeremy Chinn (back) also was back at practice on a limited basis, and wide receiver Tyler Lockett (knee) had full participation after being limited on Wednesday.
Offensive tackle Kolton Miller (ankle) was limited for a second consecutive day.
Wide receiver Alex Bachman (thumb), quarterback Geno Smith (right shoulder/back) and tight end Ian Thomas (calf) remained full participants.
Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. (oblique) and running back Woody Marks (ankle) remained out of practice on Thursday.
The Texans, though, saw six players return to practice. Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (ankle/knee), defensive end Denico Autry (knee), cornerback Kamari Lassiter (foot), defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (knee) and linebacker E.J. Speed (knee) returned to limited work after sitting out on Wednesday. Offensive tackle Trent Brown (hand) was a full participant after missing Wednesday.
The team added linebacker Jake Hansen (chest) to the practice report with limited participation.
Running back Nick Chubb (ribs) and defensive end Darrell Taylor (ankle) had full participation after limited work on Wednesday.
