Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. (oblique) and running back Woody Marks (ankle) remained out of practice on Thursday.

The Texans, though, saw six players return to practice. Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (ankle/knee), defensive end Denico Autry (knee), cornerback Kamari Lassiter (foot), defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (knee) and linebacker E.J. Speed (knee) returned to limited work after sitting out on Wednesday. Offensive tackle Trent Brown (hand) was a full participant after missing Wednesday.

The team added linebacker Jake Hansen (chest) to the practice report with limited participation.

Running back Nick Chubb (ribs) and defensive end Darrell Taylor (ankle) had full participation after limited work on Wednesday.

Texans running back Nick Chubb returned to practice on Wednesday.

Chubb, who missed last Sunday’s game with an injury to his ribs, was limited.

Running back Woody Marks, who injured his ankle in the victory over the Cardinals, was a non-participant to open the practice week.

Jawhar Jordan made the most of his opportunity with Chubb inactive and Marks banged up on Sunday. Jordan had 15 carries for 101 yards in his NFL debut. He became only the second player in team history to rush for 100 yards or higher in their NFL debut, joining Ben Tate, who had 101 yards in his debut 14 years ago.

The Texans had seven other players missing on Wednesday. Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (ankle/knee), defensive end Denico Autry (knee), offensive tackle Trent Brown (hand), cornerback Kamari Lassiter (foot), defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (knee), linebacker E.J. Speed (knee) and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. (oblique) also didn’t practice.

Defensive end Darrell Taylor (ankle) was limited.

The Texans signed running back Jawhar Jordan from the practice squad to the active roster on Tuesday, the team announced.

Jordan was elevated to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals and had 15 carries for 101 yards in his NFL debut. He became only the second player in team history to rush for 100 yards or higher in their NFL debut, joining Ben Tate, who had 101 yards in his debut 14 years ago.

He will join Woody Marks and Nick Chubb, who missed Sunday’s game with an injury, in the rotation at the position.

The Texans made Jordan a sixth-round pick in 2024 and spent time on the team’s practice squad as a rookie.

The Texans also announced they signed safety Brandon Hill to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Texans defensive tackle Mario Edwards will miss the rest of the 2025 season.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters at a Monday press conference that Edwards ruptured his pectoral during Sunday’s win over the Cardinals. Edwards had two tackles during the game.

Edwards appeared in all 14 games that the Texans have played this season. He had 13 tackles and 1.5 sacks in those contests and is signed for the 2026 season.

The Texans put defensive tackle Tim Settle on injured reserve earlier this month, so Edwards’ injury leaves them with Tommy Togiai, Sheldon Rankins, and Naquan Jones on the interior of their defensive line.

Texans running back Jawhar Jordan had spent two seasons on the practice squad without ever getting activated for a regular-season game. Until today.

Jordan was finally active today and made the most of his opportunity, carrying 15 times for 101 yards in the Texans’ win over the Cardinals.

“It’s surreal,” Jordan said, via the Houston Chronicle. “It’s a blessing just being out there with the guys and I’m just thankful. Words can’t describe how I’m feeling, it’s crazy. It’s probably a top day for me.”

The Texans had to go deep into their running back depth chart before giving Jordan a chance. Joe Mixon has been out all season, Nick Chubb was out today, and Woody Marks was injured early in today’s game. That left the Texans down to Jordan and Dare Ogunbowale, and Jordan was the more effective runner of the two, so the Texans kept giving him the ball.

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans loved what he saw from Jordan.

“Jawhar did an outstanding job for us,” Ryans said. “He ran the ball very well, efficient, showed the explosiveness, showed the speed that he has and we’ve seen in practice. It just shows whenever your number is called, are you ready for that opportunity. No one knows until you get that moment, and it’s about taking advantage of that moment and not looking back. And I thought Jawhar handled it very well.”

With his stellar play, Jordan ensured his first game on the active roster won’t be his last.
