Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid did not play in Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers and it looks like he’s on track to miss Thursday’s game against the Texans as well.
Kincaid is dealing with a hamstring injury and he was listed as out of Monday’s walkthrough practice. In a Tuesday press conference, head coach Sean McDermott said that Kincaid will miss the team’s second walkthrough of the week.
Wide receivers Curtis Samuel (elbow, neck) and Mecole Hardman (calf) will also remain out of practice. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir was out on Monday for personal reasons, but was not included on the list of players expected to be out on Tuesday.
Defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis (shoulder) is the only defensive player that is expected to miss the session. McDermott said he expected to have the same players in the limited category as the Bills had on Monday and a full injury report will be released later in the day.
There is some positive news on the injury front for Houston.
According to multiple reporters, C.J. Stroud is set to return to practice on Tuesday as the quarterback takes a step forward in the concussion protocol.
But with the Texans hosting the Bills on Thursday night, Stroud is still unlikely to play in Week 12. That puts Davis Mills in line to start another game, though Stroud may be able to return for Houston’s Week 13 divisional matchup against Indianapolis.
Stroud has not played since suffering his concussion in the Week 9 loss to the Broncos. Mills has beaten the Jaguars and Titans in the last two weeks to help get the Texans to 5-5 on the season.
Houston’s second injury report of the short week will be released later on Tuesady.
Jets cornerback Kris Boyd remains hospitalized, more than two days after a shooting in Manhattan. The shooter remains at large.
Via NBCNews.com, police said Monday that Boyd is in “critical but stable condition,” with a bullet still lodged in his lung.
The incident happened near W. 38th Street and Seventh Avenue, not far from Times Square. The shooter has not been apprehended.
Boyd and the assailant reportedly were engaged in a fight at the time the shooting happened. The article from NBCNews.com has a description and photo of the suspect.
A seventh-round pick in 2019, Boyd has played for the Vikings, Cardinals, and Texans. He signed a one-year, $1.6 million deal with the Jets in the offseason. He was placed on season-ending injury reserve in August.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Jets issued a statement noting that they are “aware of the situation” and “will have no further comment at this time.”
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said on Monday that quarterback C.J. Stroud remains in the concussion protocol and the team’s injury report didn’t offer much hope that he’ll be cleared in time to play against the Bills on Thursday night.
Stroud was listed as a non-participant in the team’s walkthrough. Davis Mills has started the last two games in Stroud’s place and will start again if Stroud remains in the protocol this week. Mills was listed as a full participant with a left elbow issue.
Defensive end Will Anderson (ankle), linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee, illness), defensive lineman Denico Autry (knee), right tackle Trent Brown (hand, knee), wide receiver Nico Collins (ankle), right guard Tytus Howard (ankle, knee), safety Jalen Pitre (concussion), and tight end Dalton Schultz (shoulder) were listed as limited participants.
Linebacker Jamal Hill (hamstring) was a non-participant while wide receiver Braxton Berrios (quad), safety Myles Bryant (ankle), kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn (quad), linebacker Jake Hansen (elbow), guard Ed Ingram (knee), and tight end Cade Stover (foot) were all listed as full participants.
The Bills have a lengthy injury report on Monday, a day after beating the Buccaneers 44-32.
They did not practice, holding only a walk-through, but list 16 players on their report.
Tight end Dalton Kincaid, who has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury, remained listed as a non-participant. He has 29 catches for 448 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Wide receivers Khalil Shakir (personal), Curtis Samuel (elbow/neck) and Mecole Hardman (calf) also missed the walk-through. Defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis (shoulder) was the other player listed as DNP.
Cornerback Christian Benford (groin), linebacker Terrel Bernard (ankle), defensive end Joey Bosa (wrist), cornerback Taron Johnson (groin), defensive tackle DaQuan Jones (rest), center Connor McGovern (ankle), wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee/ankle), defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (wrist), safety Jordan Poyer (rest) and linebacker Dorian Williams (groin) were estimated as limited.
