Lamar Jackson will not return to Sunday night’s game against the Patriots.
Jackson has been downgraded to out late in the third quarter.
During the NBC broadcast, Jackson was shown on the sideline in street clothes.
Tyler Huntley will play quarterback for the rest of Sunday’s game, though Cooper Rush is the team’s emergency third QB.
Jackson’s back was injured late in the second quarter, presumably on a designed QB run that gained a few yards.
Jackson was able to stay in for another play, but the Ravens then called a timeout to get him out of the game. He walked back to the locker room before halftime for further examination.
Jackson was 7-of-10 passing for 101 yards and had taken two carries for 7 yards at the time of his injury.
The Ravens lead the Patriots 17-13 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Lamar Jackson has not returned to the field, but Zay Flowers has nevertheless given the Ravens a third-quarter lead over the Patriots.
Flowers took an end around 18 yards for a touchdown, putting Baltimore on top, 17-13, with 4:35 left in the third period.
The score capped a six-play, 65-yard drive that took 3:08 off the clock.
The Patriots looked like they might get off the field after a third-and-5 pass from Tyler Huntley to DeAndre Hopkins was ruled incomplete. But after John Harbaugh challenged the ruling on the field, it was reversed as Hopkins — of course — got both feet in for a 16-yard completion.
A couple of plays later, Flowers got the ball in the backfield and picked his way through the defense for an 18-yard score.
Flowers now has 65 yards on five catches plus his 18-yard TD run.
On the other side, Patriots receiver DeMario “Pop” Douglas is questionable to return with a hamstring injury.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson is not on the field for the Ravens’ first possession of the second half.
After the Patriots went three-and-out to start the third quarter, Tyler Huntley remained on the field for Baltimore behind center with Jackson officially still questionable with a back injury.
Jackson went into the locker room early for further examination after Baltimore had to call a timeout late in the first half to get him out of the game. According to multiple reporters on the scene, Jackson was not seen coming back to the field after halftime.
Huntley took one snap and completed a pass before a Tyler Loop field goal.
Jackson ended the first half 7-of-10 passing for 101 yards. He had 7 yards on two carries.
On the other side, Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson (head) has been downgraded to out.
The Ravens and Patriots are tied at 10-10 at halftime. But there could be a significant injury concern with Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Jackson had to exit after taking a hit during a carry late in the first half. Baltimore announced Jackson is questionable to return with a back injury.
He went down for a 3-yard gain, then was able to hand off to Keaton Mitchell for a 5-yard loss before Baltimore took a timeout with just 1:16 left in the half.
At that point, Jackson came out of the game, replaced by backup Tyler Huntley for one play.
Tyler Loop hit a 36-yard field goal to tie the game at 10-10, as Jackson was shown on the NBC broadcast heading up to the locker room for further examination.
Jackson was 7-of-10 passing for 101 yards in the first half. He took two carries for 7 yards.
The Patriots could have at least six more points with a pair of field goals if not for two turnovers by quarterback Drake Maye. The second-year signal-caller tossed an interception to Marlon Humphrey on third-and-14 from the Baltimore 19 in the first quarter, taking points off the board.
Then Maye was strip-sacked late in the second quarter when the Patriots had at least a shot to kick a field goal in Baltimore territory, with the Ravens recovering.
Maye finished the first half 15-of-20 for 178 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
The Patriots also have several injury concerns. Running back TreVeyon Henderson is being evaluated for a head injury. Cornerback Charles Woods is questionable to return with an ankle injury. Defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga is questionable to return with a foot injury. And offensive tackle Thayer Munford is questionable to return with a knee injury.
New England will receive the second-half kickoff. We’ll see thereafter if Jackson can return to the game.
Ravens running back Derrick Henry had a fumbling issue earlier in the season.
It came back during the first quarter, leading to a Hunter Henry touchdown to tie the matchup between Baltimore and New England at 7-7 early in the second quarter.
Patriots safety Jaylinn Hawkins punched the ball out from Henry with the Ravens driving late in the first quarter, with New England recovering the loose ball for an extra possession. It was Derrick Henry’s third lost fumble of the season. It’s the most he’s had since 2022, when he finished the year with three lost fumbles.
Starting with the ball at their own 32-yard line, it took the Patriots 10 plays to go 68 yards to the end zone. Quarterback Drake Maye converted third-and-2 with a short pass to Hunter Henry over the middle. Then he converted third-and-13 with a 20-yard gain to Mack Hollins.
A pass to Austin Hooper on the next play put the Patriots on the 1-yard line. From there, Maye rolled to his right and hit a wide-open Hunter Henry for the score.
It was Maye’s 24th touchdown pass of the season.
On the injury front, Patriots right tackle Morgan Moses had to exit during the first quarter and is questionable to return with a knee injury. Thayer Munford came in to replace him. Additionally, Patriots defensive tackle Joshua Farmer is questionable to return with a hamstring injury.
