It doesn’t look like the Jaguars have anything to worry about with quarterback Trevor Lawrence for Sunday’s game against the Jets.
Lawrence was listed as a full participant in practice on Thursday. He was a limited participant due to an ankle injury on Wednesday.
Left tackle Walker Little (concussion), defensive lineman BJ Green (knee), and safety Andrew Wingard (concussion) also moved up to full participation.
Wide receiver Parker Washington (hip), tight end Quintin Morris (ankle), and left guard Ezra Cleveland (shoulder) remained limited participants. Defensive tackle Arik Armstead (hand), defensive end Travon Walker (knee), and cornerback Jarrian Jones (neck) were all full participants for the second straight day.
Signs are pointing toward Brady Cook starting at quarterback for the Jets in Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.
Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday, which leaves Cook as the only quarterback on the active roster who is taking part in the team’s on-field work. Cook is also on the injury report, but has been listed as a full participant with a knee injury.
The Jets signed Adrian Martinez to their practice squad and he would likely be elevated to serve as the team’s backup.
Linebacker Kiko Mauigoa (neck), tight end Mason Taylor (neck), and cornerback Azareye’h Thomas (shoulder) also missed practice. Running back Breece Hall (knee), defensive tackle Harrison Phillips (rest), linebacker Quincy Williams (hand), and tight end Stone Smartt (concussion) moved up to limited participation.
Safety Tony Adams (groin), linebacker Cam Jones (hip), and edge rusher Jermaine Johnson (rest) were full participants.
Jets rookie quarterback Brady Cook handled the first-team reps on Wednesday with veterans Tyrod Taylor (groin) and Justin Fields (knee) out of practice.
“That does a lot for any quarterback especially with building continuity with the rest of the guys,” Jets coach Aaron Glenn said of Cook, via Eric Allen of the team website. “Set points as far as where he’s going to be at for the O-line, receiver-quarterback communication. Anytime you get reps like that with the first team with a different quarterback, it always helps. It will be good for him, but again we’ll see how this week progresses when it comes to our quarterback situation.”
Fields and Taylor were among 10 Jets who did not practice on Wednesday.
“A lot it is just maintenance for the most part, so we can get our guys rested and ready to play,” Glenn said.
Running back Breece Hall (knee), edge rusher Jermaine Johnson (rest), linebacker Kiko Mauigoa (neck), defensive lineman Harrison Phillips (rest), tight end Stone Smartt (concussion), tight end Mason Taylor (neck), cornerback Azareye’h Thomas (shoulder) and linebacker Quincy Williams (hand) also were non-participants.
Safety Tony Adams (groin) was a full participant.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence is on the Jaguars’ injury report this week.
The Jaguars listed Lawrence as limited on the team’s first practice report ahead of their game against the Jets. Lawrence was 17-of-30 for 244 yards and two touchdowns in last Sunday’s 36-19 win over the Colts. Nick Mullens played quarterback late in the game, but that was due to the score rather than an injury.
Wide receiver Parker Washington (hip), tight end Quintin Morris (ankle), left guard Ezra Cleveland (shoulder), defensive lineman BJ Green (knee), safety Andrew Wingard (concussion), and left tackle Walker Little (concussion) were also listed as limited.
Defensive tackle Arik Armstead (hand), defensive end Travon Walker (knee), and cornerback Jarrian Jones (neck) were full participants.
The Jets are dealing with a pair of injuries in their quarterback room, so they’ve added another one to the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.
They announced the signing of Adrian Martinez on Wednesday. The move came shortly after head coach Aaron Glenn announced that Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields will not participate in practice.
Martinez was with the Jets this summer along with Brady Cook, who is in line to start if the other quarterbacks are unavailable. Martinez moved on to the 49ers and backed up Mac Jones while Brock Purdy was out of action. He played one snap with the 49ers.
The Jets also announced that they have signed defensive lineman Eric Watts to the active roster and placed defensive lineman Tyler Baron on injured reserve.
