Under a new HC, the NYJ have zero INT.

Yes, the Jets haven’t picked off a pass in any of 14 regular-season games in 2025. Via NBC Sports research, it’s the longest single-season streak since turnovers became an official statistic in 1933. It’s also tied for the longest streak of all time, with the 2024-25 49ers.

The Jets’ quarterbacks have thrown 11 interceptions this year.

It’s one of the tangible reasons why the Jets are currently 3-11. And it’s one of the tangible reasons why defensive coordinator Steve Wilks was fired earlier this week.

The Jets close out the season with games against the Saints, Patriots, and Bills. If the Jets finish 3-14, it’ll be their worst season since the schedule expanded to 17 games, and their most losses since going 2-14 in 2020.

Already eliminated from playoff contention, the Jets have the longest current absence from the postseason as to any major American professional sports league. The Jets last qualified for the playoffs in 2010.

Jets quarterback Justin Fields isn’t ready to slam the door on playing again this season and he’s not ready to talk about his outlook for next season either.

Fields was benched after a Week 11 loss to the Patriots and he has not suited up for the last few games because of a knee injury. Fields was back at practice this week, but said on Friday that he doesn’t think he will “be ready on Sunday” to serve as rookie Brady Cook’s backup.

That role will likely go to Tyrod Taylor, who was also back at practice after missing Week 15. Fields said “of course” when asked if he hopes to play again before the season is over and said he has not thought about what the 2026 season has in store for him.

“I mean, I don’t know what I’m going to eat for dinner tonight, so I can’t even worry about what’s going to happen until after the season,” Fields said. via Dennis Waszak of the Associated Press. “We’ll just see and take it day by day.”

Fields signed a two-year deal with the Jets before this season and is due $10 million in guaranteed salary. It’s hard to see him returning to a starting role, but cutting him without a post-June 1 designation would leave the Jets with $22 million in dead money so they’ll have to consider all options about how to handle things with Fields in 2026.

Jets receiver Garrett Wilson will not return in the 2025 season.

Head coach Aaron Glenn announced in his Friday press conference that Wilson will remain on injured reserve with the knee injury that has kept him out since early November.

“Garrett’s doing a really good job in his rehab, but what we’re going to do — just talking to docs, talking to him — is we’re going to hold him out for the rest of the season and he will be ready to go as the offseason program starts up,” Glenn said. “And I’m excited about that.”

While Wilson is eligible to return, it makes sense to shut him down given that the Jets are 3-11 to prevent any further risk to Wilson’s knee.

“He’s on board,” Glenn said. “And, again, he’s doing really, really well as far as his rehab. We just want to be smart with him because he’s a key cog of what we’re doing here. And to be able to get him back in the offseason program fully healthy, ready to go, we felt like that was the best decision for all of us.”

Wilson eclipsed 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons and had not missed a game before 2025. He’ll finish his fourth year having caught 36 passes for 395 yards with four touchdowns.

The Saints placed rookie running back Devin Neal on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.

Neal injured a hamstring in Sunday’s victory over the Panthers.

The move ends Neal’s season.

Neal became the team’s primary running back after knee injuries to Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller. He rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns on 57 carries. Neal also caught 17 passes for 104 yards receiving.

He went to the training room after a 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter Sunday.

The Saints now will have Audric Estime as their primary running back, with Evan Hull as a backup. They signed veteran Nyheim Hines to the practice squad.

The Jets announced a handful of roster moves on Thursday, including the addition of a quarterback to their practice squad.

Hendon Hooker is the new addition to a quarterback room that also includes Brady Cook, Tyrod Taylor, and Justin Fields. Hooker was a 2023 third-round pick by the Lions and Jets head coach Aaron Glenn was the Lions’ defensive coordinator at the time.

Hooker missed his rookie season while recovering from a torn ACL and appeared in three games during the 2024 season. He spent time on the Panthers’ practice squad after being let go by the Lions this summer.

The Jets also announced that they have signed defensive tackle Payton Page to the active roster from the practice squad. He has appeared in two games this season.

Safety Tony Adams was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move. He had 49 total tackles and a sack in 12 appearances before his season-ending groin injury.
