Colts backup quarterback Jim Sorgi is usually only useful in the preseason and during Week Seventeen, after the Colts have clinched a playoff spot.
He might have to wait for December to get significant playing time now.
“Not quite certain how long it’s going to take him to get back, maybe two to three weeks,” coach Jim Caldwell said Saturday.
The Colts now only have two quarterbacks on the roster: Peyton Manning and sixth-round rookie Curtis Painter. Look for them to sign another arm until Sorgi is healthy.
Painter ultimately get a chance to supplant Sorgi as the team’s backup if he impresses.
