The Eagles often false start on the tush push. Sometimes, the officials flag it. Today was one of those times. But it didn’t cost the Eagles.

With the Eagles facing second-and-goal inside the 1-yard line, Fred Johnson was flagged for a false start, moving the Eagles back five yards.

No matter: On the next play, Jalen Hurts hit DeVonta Smith for a touchdown pass that put the Eagles up 7-3.

Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean and Commanders punt returner Jaylin Lane have both exited today’s game with injuries, and both were designated as questionable to return.

If the Eagles win this game, they win the NFC East. Late in the first quarter, they’re on their way.

Love, Mariota both suffer injuries in preseason
Chris Simms and Mike Florio discuss the injuries to Jeremiyah Love and Marcus Mariota, diving into the risk preseason brings to NFL players.

The Commanders are big underdogs today in Washington, but they’re off to a promising start.

Eagles return man Will Shipley fumbled the opening kickoff, and Washington’s Mike Sainristil recovered, to set up the Commanders in good field position to start the game.

From there, Washington drove down to the 2-yard line, but threw incomplete on second down and third down before settling for a field goal to take a 3-0 lead.

The Eagles caught a break when Cooper DeJean committed pass interference in the end zone on the third down incompletion, but the officials missed it.

Now the Eagles will try to hold onto the ball and get their offense going.

The Eagles announced two elevations for Saturday’s game against the Commanders.

Tight end E.J. Jenkins and cornerback Brandon Johnson are eligible to be on the game-day roster.

It is the second elevation for Jenkins this season. He was also called up for the Week 7 win over the Vikings, and he played five snaps on offense and 19 on special teams.

Jenkins, who entered the rookie free agent with the Jets in 2023, has spent the majority of the past two seasons on the Eagles’ practice squad. Last year, Jenkins played eight games for the Eagles.

He had his first NFL catch and NFL touchdown in the 2024 regular-season finale against the Giants.

Jenkins played nearly as many snaps on special teams (91) in the regular season as he did on offense (95).

Tight end Cameron Latu, who also serves as a fullback, is questionable to play with a stinger.

This is Johnson’s first elevation, opening the door for the rookie free agent to make his NFL debut on Saturday night.

The Eagles are officially set to have their starting running back for Week 16.

While Saquon Barkley was listed as a non-participant with a stinger on Tuesday’s injury report, he was a full participant on Wednesday and Thursday and is now expected to play against the Commanders.

Barkley is on the verge of eclipsing 1,000 yards rushing for the fifth time in his career, as he’s registered 940 yards with six touchdowns in 14 games so far in 2025. He’s also caught 37 passes for 273 yards with two TDs.

Offensive linemen Landon Dickerson (calf/rest) and Fred Johnson (ankle) are also expected to play despite missing practice time this week.

As expected, offensive tackle Lane Johnson (foot) and defensive tackle Jalen Carter (shoulders) have been ruled out.

Tight end Cameron Latu (stinger) and offensive tackle Cameron Williams (shoulder) are questionable.

Linebacker Zack Baun (hand), running back Tank Bigsby, and outside linebacker Jean Phillips (knee) are also off the report and are set to play.

Commanders left tackle Laremy Tunsil will not play on Saturday against the Eagles.

Washington head coach Dan Quinn announced today that Tunsil has been ruled out with an oblique injury.

The Commanders acquired Tunsil in an offseason trade with the Texans, and he has started every game for them this season.

It’s unclear whether Tunsil’s injury is serious enough to shut him down for the remainder of the season. It’s also unclear whether Tunsil has a future in Washington. His salary cap number for next season is $24.95 million, but none of his remaining salary is guaranteed, and the Commanders could save most of that cap space by cutting him.

The Eagles estimated running back Saquon Barkley (stinger) as a non-participant in Tuesday’s practice. He returned to full participation on Wednesday, putting him on track to play in Saturday’s game against the Commanders.

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter (shoulders), offensive guard Landon Dickerson (calf/rest), offensive tackle Fred Johnson (ankle) and right tackle Lane Johnson (foot) remained non-participants on Wednesday.

Tight end Cameron Latu (stinger) returned to limited work after being estimated as a non-participant on Tuesday.

Running back Tank Bigsby (illness) was back to full participation after a limited session a day earlier.

During the second half of Sunday’s win over the Raiders, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts seemed to suffer a leg injury when he was twisted awkwardly during a tackle. He doesn’t appear on the first injury report for Week 16, in advance of Saturday’s game against the Commanders.

The Eagles held a walk-through, not a full practice. The report for Tuesday is an estimate as to the participation, or lack thereof, if the team had conducted a normal practice.

Another key offensive player showed up on the report, with an injury that would have kept him from practice. Running back Saquon Barkley has a stinger.

Also not practicing (if there would have been practice) were defensive tackle Jalen Carter (shoulders), guard Landon Dickerson (calf), tackle Fred Johnson (ankle), tackle Lane Johnson (foot), and tight end Cameron Latu (stinger).

Running back Tank Bigsby (illness) was limited. Fully participating were linebacker Zack Baun (hand), linebacker Jaelan Phillips (knee), and tackle Cameron Williams (shoulder).

The 9-5 Eagles are one win (or a Cowboys loss) away from clinching the NFC East.

The Commanders’ first injury report ahead of Saturday’s game against the Eagles includes left tackle Laremy Tunsil.

Tunsil was listed as out of practice due to an oblique injury. Tunsil has started every game for Washington this season.

Defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (concussion), edge rusher Von Miller (rest), defensive tackle Daron Payne (rest), linebacker Bobby Wagner (knee, rest), and tight end Colson Yankoff (ankle) were also out of practice.

Tackle George Fant (knee), defensive end Drake Jackson (groin, knee), cornerback Jonathan Jones (rib), and running back Chris Rodriguez (groin) were listed as full participants. Quarterback Jayden Daniels (left elbow) was a limited participant, but he has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Commanders announced on Monday that quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play again this season due to the dislocated left elbow he suffered in a Week 9 loss to the Seahawks.

Daniels returned to play in Week 14, but aggravated the injury in Washington’s loss to the Vikings. Head coach Dan Quinn said at the time that Daniels could have returned to the game, but he further medical evaluation led to him being ruled out for Week 15 and he has not been cleared for contact. That led to the 4-10 Commanders deciding to let Daniels recover and start getting ready for 2026.

On Tuesday, Daniels said “adrenaline is a hell of a drug” when asked how he went from being available to not being cleared and reflected on a season that also saw him miss time due to hamstring and knee injuries.

“It’s super tough,” Daniels said, via WUSA. “I don’t want to miss games at all. I’ve been frustrated this whole season missing games. I want to be out there to help my teammates as much as possible. It’s just been a frustrating year, a disappointing year, but you learn from it and move forward.”

Daniels was the offensive rookie of the year in 2024 and the Commanders advanced to the NFC Championship Game, so this season was a step in the wrong direction across the board. They’ll hope for a rebound once Daniels is able to get back on the field next year.

Noah Brown’s 2025 season has come to an end.

The Commanders placed Brown on injured reserve on Tuesday after he suffered a rib injury during Sunday’s win over the Giants.

Brown was able to play just four games in 2025. He suffered an ankle injury early in the season that kept him sidelined until the Week 14 loss to the Vikings.

In those four games, he caught five passes for 83 yards.

As a corresponding move, the Commanders have signed receiver Chris Moore to the 53-man roster from the club’s practice squad.

Additionally, Washington designated cornerback Darius Rush practice squad injured, signed receiver River Cracraft to the practice squad, and signed tight end Gee Scott Jr. to the practice squad.
