49ers quarterback Brock Purdy’s availability for Week 2 is in question after he emerged from Sunday’s victory over the Seahawks with a pair of injuries.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy injured his left shoulder and a toe, with the toe injury more concerning.

The 49es consider Purdy “day to day,” but Shanahan conceded the team doesn’t yet know whether Purdy will be able to play through it.

We’re not sure,” Shanahan said, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “We’ve got to see how it heals and how the week goes on it.”

Mac Jones is the 49ers’ backup quarterback, but the team likely will need to sign another quarterback this week.

Purdy went 26-of-35 for 277 yards with two touchdowns and two touchdowns in the 17-13 win.

Wide receiver Jauan Jennings (shoulder) had an MRI that showed no issues, but the team’s medical staff still is awaiting results from a CT scan.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald expanded on his decision-making process during a key moment in the team’s loss to the 49ers on Monday.

During an appearance on Seattle Sports, Macdonald was asked about kicking a field goal to go up 13-10 with 3:24 left to play rather than go for it on fourth-and-1 from the 49ers’ 19-yard-line. Macdonald said he thought it was a “tough” decision and acknowledged that the team’s model said that they should go for it before explaining why he went the other way.

“If you go and you get the first down, you’re not guaranteed a touchdown,” Macdonald said, via Michael-Shawn Dugar of TheAthletic.com. “You’re going to knock some time off the clock and, ultimately, you’ll probably end up with a score on that. Then San Fran is going to be in a four-down situation coming down the field, probably with all three of their timeouts, which is a difficult situation on defense. I think the numbers are about 40-50 percent, 60 percent score-rate in that situation. That’s what was going through my mind.”

Macdonald said he thought that the 49ers would have been in “three-down mode” down three, but he may not have been right about that given that they missed one field goal and had another blocked earlier in the game. It wound up being moot because the 49ers quickly moved the ball into the red zone and scored on a third-down pass from Brock Purdy to Jake Tonges.

The Seahawks still had 94 seconds left to try to move back into the lead after Tonges scored and they got to the 9-yard-line before Nick Bosa forced a Sam Darnold fumble that sealed the win for the Niners.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said after Sunday’s win over the Seahawks that the team hoped to get a deal done with free agent wide receiver Kendrick Bourne after visiting with him last week and things have now fallen into place.

Bourne’s agents told ESPN that their client has agreed to a one-year deal with the Niners. It is worth up to $5 million.

The move comes a day after the 49ers lost tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Jauan Jennings to injuries in their season opener. Shanahan said both players would get MRIs to determine the extent of their injuries. The Niners were already missing wideouts Brandon Aiyuk and Demarcus Robinson, so it’s easy to see why the team was in the market for receiving help.

Bourne was of particular interest because he has history with the Niners. Bourne played for the 49ers from 2017-2020, so he has familiarity with Shanahan’s offensive schemes that could help him find a role quickly in his second tour of duty with the team.

49ers right tackle Colton McKivitz got to celebrate a season-opening win on Sunday afternoon and he has another reason to celebrate on Monday.

McKivitz’s agents Doug Hendrickson and CJ LaBoy told ESPN that their client has agreed to a three-year extension with the team. The deal is worth $45 million with $27 million in guaranteed money.

McKivitz is now under contract through the 2028 season.

The 49ers drafted McKivitz in the fifth round in 2020 and he spent most of his time as a backup before the 2023 season. He started every game last year and repeated that feat in 2024.

With the new deal in place, McKivitz is set to make a lot more starts in a 49ers uniform.

At some point, if he keeps kicking the way he’s kicking, Jake Moody is going to lose his job. But that day is not Sunday, immediately after the 49ers’ 17-13 win over the Seahawks.

Moody missed a 27-yard field goal off the upright and had another one blocked and now has missed six field goals in his past four games dating to last season.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan stood by his kicker in his postgame news conference. He said, “No question,” when asked whether Moody’s status with the team was in question.

Shanahan later added a little wiggle room to his answer.

“Right now, I have no question,” Shanahan said, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “I’m trying to finish today, get on a plane and evaluate stuff, and go back at it. Ask me every day and I’ll answer how I am right at that moment.”

Shanahan said he does not blame Moody for Julian Love’s block.

Moody missed 10 field goals and an extra point in 2024, which led to the 49ers signing veteran Greg Joseph in the offseason. Moody, though, kept his job.

The question now is: How long will he keep it?
