The Commanders needed this one after three consecutive losses, all by one score. They took it to a lesser team Sunday, scoring touchdowns on their first four possessions and cruising to a 42-19 win over the Titans.
Washington improved to 8-5, while Tennessee fell to 3-9.
The Commanders outgained the Titans 463 to 245, with Jayden Daniels accounting for four touchdowns.
Daniels threw for three touchdowns — a 16-yarder to Terry McLaurin, a 3-yarder to McLaurin and a 4-yarder to Zach Ertz — and ran for a 3-yard score. He was 25-of-30 for 206 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
Daniels had 34 of the team’s 267 rushing yards on nine carries. Brian Robinson rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries and Chris Rodriguez had a career day with 13 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown.
The Titans held the Texans to 40 yards rushing last week, but Robinson went 40 yards for a touchdown on the Commanders’ first rush of the day.
Daniels completed 25 of 30 passes for 206 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. McLaurin caught eight passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns.
McLaurin’s touchdowns came after back-to-back fumbles by the Titans.
Will Levis went 18-for-37 for 212 yards and two touchdowns, with Nick Westbrook-Ikhine catching three for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
The Commanders dominated the first half and took a 28-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.’
It should have been more but after scoring touchdowns on their first four possessions, the Commanders had Zane Gonzalez miss a 46-yard field goal on their fifth drive.
The Titans then scored with 23 seconds remaining in the half on Will Levis’ 27-yard touchdown pass to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.
Washington has outgained Tennessee 246 to 116, with the Titans producing only 28 yards on their first five possessions. Tennessee lost back-to-back fumbles, which led to touchdown receptions of 16 and 3 yards by Terry McLaurin.
McLaurin has six catches for 52 yards.
Jayden Daniels is 14-of-15 for 105 yards and two touchdowns, and he has run for a 3-yard touchdown as part of his six carries for 30 yards. Brian Robinson has 11 carries for 85 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown run.
Levis is 9-of-16 for 96 yards and a touchdown.
The Jaguars have 14 consecutive losses when trailing at halftime. They trail 6-3 today, and if the Jaguars are going to break that streak they will have to do it with Mac Jones at quarterback.
Trevor Lawrence was ruled out with a concussion after a brutal illegal hit by Azeez Al-Shaair, who was ejected. The fights that ensued led to the ejection of Jaguars defensive back Jarrian Jones and an unnecessary roughness penalty on Jaguars tight end Evan Engram.
The Texans have outgained the Jaguars 117 to 100 in an ugly game.
Houston got field goals of 53 and 30 yards from Ka’imi Fairbairn, and Cam Little kicked a 33-yarder with eight seconds remaining in the half to draw Jacksonville within a field goal.
Lawrence, who was playing with a left shoulder injury, went 4-of-10 for 41 yards and an interception. Parker Washington caught two for 36 yards.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is 11-of-17 for 117 yards, with Nico Collins catching five for 75. The Texans have only 24 yards rushing after rushing for 40 last week against the Titans.
Derek Stingley had the pick of Lawrence, returning it 31 yards to set up a field goal.

Terry McLaurin has scored back-to-back touchdowns after back-to-back fumbles by the Titans. The Commanders lead 28-0.
McLaurin scored on a 16-yard touchdown reception after Tony Pollard’s fumble, which was forced and recovered by Mike Sainristil. He then caught a 4-yard touchdown pass after Jha’Quan Jackson fumbled the ensuing kickoff. Tyler Owens forced it and Mykal Walker recovered for the Commanders.
McLaurin has five catches for 50 yards.
