Titans center Lloyd Cushenberry left Sunday’s game with what the team reported as an ankle injury.
Paul Kuharsky of paulkuharsky.com reports that Cushenberry is believed to have an Achilles injury that will end his season. A torn Achilles is easily diagnosed, but Cushenberry likely undergoes an MRI to confirm.
Coach Brian Callahan called it an “ankle [injury] of some sort” and said the injuries for Cushenberry and defensive back Quandre Diggs (foot) were “not real positive . . . at this point.”
Cushenberry signed a four-year, $50 million contract with the Titans in the offseason. He played all 456 offensive plays in seven games this season before Sunday.
Corey Levin replaced Cushenberry, but Daniel Brunskill likely becomes the starting center now. Brunskill started at right guard Sunday with Dillon Radunz out with a foot injury.
Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye made one of the best highlight-reel plays of this NFL season as time expired in the fourth quarter today in Tennessee, but it wasn’t enough.
Maye scrambled around as the clock hit :00 before heaving the ball into the end zone, where Rhamondre Stevenson caught it for a touchdown that tied the game at 17-17 and forced overtime.
But in overtime the Titans’ offense marched the ball down the field for a field goal that gave Tennessee a 20-17 lead, and when the Patriots got their chance, Maye threw an interception that ended the game and gave the Titans the 20-17 win.
Drake Maye had two fumbles, the second of which was recovered deep in Patriots territory in the fourth quarter to set up the Titans’ game-winning touchdown.
Despite the exciting ending, it was largely an ugly game between two bad teams, with a total of 18 accepted penalties and plenty of bad plays on both sides. But in the end the Titans did just enough to win and improve their record to 2-6. The Patriots fall to 2-7.
The Patriots’ defense looked soft on the opening drive today in Tennessee.
The Titans’ offense marched down the field with ease on an eight-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a touchdown pass from Mason Rudolph to Nick Vannett.
Titans running back Tony Pollard had a 32-yard run and Rudolph had a 13-yard run on the drive. The Titans gained five first downs and an ill-advised attempt to have wide receiver Jha’Quan Jackson run the ball was the only play that didn’t go as planned for the Titans’ offense.
Now the Patriots need Drake Maye and their offense to find an answer, on a day when their defense is off to an ugly start.

Before the Commanders held their pregame workout at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, head coach Dan Quinn said that running back Brian Robinson was ready to get rolling with his teammates. Robinson’s roll didn’t take him very far, though.
Robinson’s workout before the game was cut short by the hamstring injury that led him to be listed as questionable. Robinson landed on the inactive list that was released 90 minutes before the kickoff of the Commanders’ game against the Giants as a result.
Robinson ran for 133 yards in a Week Two Washington home win over the Giants, but they’ll need others to lead the way if they’re going to finish off a sweep.

It looks like Will Levis will miss another game.
While Levis is officially questionable with his shoulder injury, the Titans have elevated quarterback Trevor Siemian from the practice squad for Sunday’s matchup against the Patriots.
That’s an indication that Mason Rudolph is likely to start against New England on Sunday.
Levis was a limited participant for all three days of practice this week. He has missed the last two games.
A second-round pick in 2023, Levis has completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 699 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions so far this season. Rudolph enters the weekend with a 58.9 percent completion rate for 566 yards with two touchdowns and three picks.
Additionally, the Titans have signed running back Joshua Kelley, defensive back Justin Hardee, and receiver Bryce Oliver to their 53-man roster. The club waived tight end Thomas Odukoya and placed offensive lineman Andrew Rupcich on injured reserve. Offensive lineman Corey Levin has been elevated to the gameday roster from the practice squad.
Tennessee added tight end Josh Whyle (illness) to the injury report and he is questionable.
