Second Annual Toyota HBCU New York Classic Returns to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey
NBCU Academy – a Journalism Training and Development Program – to Offer HBCU Students Professional Development Opportunities and Hands-on Media Experience
STAMFORD, Conn. – Sept. 13, 2023 – Morehouse College and Albany State University meet in the second annual Toyota HBCU New York Classic college football game this Saturday, Sept. 16, live at 3 p.m. ET on Peacock and CNBC.
Celebrating all the tradition and pageantry of the HBCU game day experience, Morehouse will face Albany State at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this Saturday. Last year’s game featured an attendance of more than 35,000 fans at MetLife.
Kyle Draper will call Saturday’s game alongside analyst and former NFL tight end Charles Arbuckle (analyst). NBC Sports’ Corey Robinson, a former Notre Dame wide receiver, will serve as the in-game reporter.
Known as the world’s largest HBCU Homecoming and the unofficial kickoff event of HBCU Homecoming week, fans and alumni from the 107 HBCUs across the country are expected to attend Saturday’s game at MetLife Stadium. The game’s halftime show will include a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop featuring surprise guests, plus spectacular drumline performances and a battle of the bands between participating schools.
Through NBCU Academy – a journalism training and development program designed to prepare college students and young professionals for careers in the news and media technology industry -- NBC Sports will present select students from HBCU institutions with professional development programming, including the opportunity to cover HBCU events for NBCSports.com.
The HBCU New York Classic is a part of NBC Sports’ action-packed college football slate on Saturday, featuring four games. NBC Sports’ college football schedule this Saturday:
