STAMFORD, Conn. - April 18, 2016 - NBC Sports Group will continue its robust coverage of the 2016 cycling season, with live coverage of the Fleche Wallone on Wednesday, April 20, at 8:25 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Live Extra. NBCSN will televise an encore presentation of the race on Saturday, April 23, 12:30 p.m. ET. In addition, NBC Sports Live Extra will host live coverage of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege on Sunday, April 24, at 8 a.m. ET. An encore presentation of the race will air Sunday at Midnight ET on NBCSN.
Highlighting the field for the Fleche Wallone is Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), who will be aiming for his fourth victory - third consecutive - in the event. Valverde will be joined by 2012 Fleche Wallone winner Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha), and Julian Alaphilippe (Etixx-Quickstep), who placed second in the event last year.
All three cyclists will also compete in the Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Valverde is the defending Liege-Bastogne-Liege champion, and has three wins in the event to his name. Alaphilippe and Rodriguez placed second and third, respectively, in the event last year. They will be joined by Dan Martin (Etixx-Quickstep), the 2013 Liege-Bastogne-Liege winner.
Steve Schlanger handles play-by-play for both events on NBCSN, alongside analyst Bob Roll.
