ORLANDO, Fla. (May 15, 2013) - Golf Channel’s coverage of the 2013 Tour season gets underway Thursday with live, four-round coverage of the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation from Greenville, S.C.

The BMW Charity Pro-Am is the only tournament on the schedule that features both amateurs and celebrities competing alongside Tour professionals in a better-ball competition played over four golf courses. Celebrities scheduled to compete in this year’s tournament include actors Lucas Black, Anthony Anderson, Craig T. Nelson and Kurt Russell; hockey icon Wayne Gretzky and Carolina Hurricanes head coach Kirk Muller, among others.

Golf Channel live air times for the tournament are Thursday and Friday (May 16-17), 12:30-2:30 p.m. ET, and Saturday-Sunday (May 18-19), 3-5 p.m. ET.

2013 is a milestone year for the Tour, marking the first time it becomes the main path to earning playing privileges on the PGA TOUR, with all 50 TOUR cards being awarded through qualifying play on Tour. Twenty-five cards will be issued to the top-25 leading money winners at the conclusion of the regular season, with an additional 25 cards on the line during the Tour Finals (based on Finals’ earnings), a series of four events leading to the season-ending Tour Championship. Golf Channel will air 10 events in 2013, including the Tour Finals and the Tour Championship.

Golf Channel’s broadcast team at the BMW Charity Pro-Am will feature Whit Watson handling play-by-play duties, Craig Perks as lead analyst, Phil Blackmar calling selected holes from a tower position, and Phil Parkin and Kay Cockerill reporting from the golf course.
