Race winner Kyle Busch to reporter Marty Snider from Victory Lane: “I just can’t believe this run right now. I just can’t believe what is going on.”

Runner-up Joey Logano to Dave Burns after the race: “I don’t know what got into those guys. I guess Kyle is back.”

Jeff Burton on Kyle Busch: “I am convinced that Kyle Busch’s injury actually helped him in a strange way. When you have something that is taken away from you, it means more to you.”

Indianapolis, Ind. – July 26, 2015 – NBCSN presented its main event from Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier today with Sprint Cup Racing from the Brickyard Presented by Golden Corral. Inside the NBCSN broadcast booth, race announcer Rick Allen, 21-time Sprint Cup winning driver Jeff Burton, and Daytona 500-winning crew chief Steve Letarte called the action. Working the pits were NBCSN reporters Marty Snider, Kelli Stavast, Mike Massaro and Dave Burns.

The following are highlights from today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race coverage on NBCSN.

Letarte on Indy’s high-drag aero package: “You may not be able to see air, but you can see the effect of air. As you look at the hood of [Carl Edward’s] No. 19 car, you can see the flaps opening and the hood itself bouncing around. That is purely because of the effect of the car in front of him and shows you how much air is hitting these race cars.”

Burton on the lap-50 wreck that sent Gordon’s No. 24 car into the wall: “We talked a lot about how much this race means to Jeff Gordon and how he won the inaugural race here. This is certainly not the way he wanted this race to go. There’s a lot of damage on that car. They’re going to keep coming back to the pits, but it’s going to be hard to get that fixed.”

Burton on the hot conditions and the drivers’ helmet cooling system: “Temperatures are over 130 degrees inside these cars. On the scanner, you may hear drivers talk about air conditioning. Let’s be clear, there is no air conditioning inside these cars. There is air flow into their helmets through a hose, and that air is roughly 30 degrees cooler than what it is outside. That may not sound like a lot, but blowing into your head, that makes a big difference. The air is also scrubbed in order to remove the carbon monoxide. Cool, clean air into your helmet is a wonderful thing.”

Letarte reacting to Casey Mears’ in-car temperature gauge reading 133 degrees during a pit stop: “The car will actually cool down a bit when they are out running under green, but when they come down onto pit road at those slow speeds, the temperature really, really spikes.”

Burton on the importance of being precise in the corners at Indy: “It is a game of inches. If you miss it by two inches you are out of the groove, especially when you are really trying to maximize your speed. These drivers are trying to give a 100 percent. They are not running around here at 97 percent…You have four distinct corners. Nowhere, except for on road courses, do you have corners like these. If you miss a little bit in each corner it can end up being three quarters of a second on the time.”

Kyle Busch’s crew chief Adam Stevens talks with Snider on getting points vs. winning at the Brickyard: “We just need a little bit of luck to pull this one off. This is the Brickyard all that (points) goes out the window. We will worry about points next week, we’ve got to get a trophy today.”

Letarte on playing the fuel mileage game in the last laps: “Sometimes things look lucky. They are calculated gambles…You have to be willing to lose a race, but that is the best way to win a race.”

Burton on Kyle Busch leading into the green-white-checker finish: “Kyle Busch’s largest supporter in the world would not believe he could win the races he has won over the last month. It is really uncharted territory. I am convinced that Kyle Busch’s injury actually helped him in a strange way. When you have something that is taken away from you, it means more to you. Kyle has come back with a vengeance. To prove that he is a racecar driver, to prove he can overcome adversity. He has me convinced. There is no question he knows what he is doing.”

Stevens on winning 4 out of the last 5 Sprint Cup races: “It is a championship run. We are transitioning from making The Chase, to trying to win this championship.”

Race winner Kyle Busch to reporter Snider from Victory Lane: “I just can’t believe this run right now. I just can’t believe what is going on. Everybody is going to be tasting the rainbow tonight, that is for sure…Toyota has now captured a win at every single active NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racetrack, that is pretty awesome for us to do that…I think maybe I found my happy place.”

Runner-up Joey Logano to Burns after the race: “I don’t know what got into those guys. I guess Kyle is back.”

NBCSN’s NASCAR coverage continues tomorrow afternoon with a 60-minute edition of NASCAR America Sunday at 2 p.m. ET, followed by the Countdown to Green, Served by Sonic pre-race show at 3 p.m. ET. At 3:30 p.m. ET, coverage shifts to the broadcast booth as NBCSN presents Sprint Cup Racing from the Brickyard Presented by Golden Corral.
