Through the lens of Manu Ginobli, Luis Scola, Andres Nocioni, Fabricio Oberto, Carlos Delfino and others, The Golden Generation spotlights Argentinian’s historic run and revisits a moment that captivated a country, as Argentina defeated the United States – led by LeBron James, Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson – in the semi-finals to advance to the gold medal game against Italy. Ginobli and Scola combined to score 41 points as the Argentinians defeated the Italians, 84-69, to capture their first-ever gold medal in basketball.

“The history of the golden generation is much more than a triumph of underdogs, which it is.” said Campanella, who directed the film “The Secret in Their Eyes” that won the Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film in 2010. “What really thrills and impacts is the humility, effort and camaraderie of a group of people that keeps growing stronger over time – a team of individual stars who managed to merge into a single spirit, and who years later maintains a friendship and admiration for each other that remains unchanged.”

The hour-and-a-half-long documentary features insights and interviews with every Argentinian player, as well as commentary from former NBA commissioner David Stern, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, and Olympic medalists Carmelo Anthony and Pau Gasol, among others.
