STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 15, 2024 – Mikaela Shiffrin, the winningest skier in FIS Alpine Ski World Cup history, competing at the slalom event in Flachau, along with the prestigious Hahnenkamm races from Kitzbühel, headline a big week of live FIS Alpine World Cup skiing coverage from Austria on Peacock. The action begins tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 16 with Shiffrin competing in her signature event, slalom, live at Noon ET and the second run live at 2:45 p.m. ET, with both on Peacock.
Shiffrin is in the midst of yet another successful season, currently leading the World Cup standings. The two-time Olympic champion, sitting at 93 career FIS Alpine Ski World Cup wins, could become the first alpine skier to reach 100 all-time wins later this season as well as earn her women’s record-tying sixth overall World Cup title.
Later this week, Peacock will present live coverage of the prestigious Hahnenkamm race in Kitzbühel on Jan. 19-21. One of the oldest ski races in the world, the Hahnenkamm is also one of the most challenging. Home to the world-famous Streif course, the downhill includes a nearly 3,000-foot drop and sees skiers regularly top speeds of over 90 miles per hour. Daron Rahlves is the only American to ever win the Hahnenkamm World Cup downhill (2003).
The U.S. men will attempt to break a 21-year U.S. victory drought in the men’s downhill this Saturday, Jan. 20 at 5:30 a.m. ET live on Peacock. The team is expected to be led by 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Super-G silver medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle along with fellow Winter Olympians River Radamus, Bryce Bennett and Jared Goldberg. An encore presentation of the event will be presented at 5 p.m. ET on NBC.
Steve Schlanger will handle play-by-play alongside 1998 Nagano Olympic super-G champion Picabo Street for all skiing events this week.
