Event Highlights Include World Cup Stops at Five Past Olympic Tracks & 2019 FIL World Luge Championships in Winterberg, Germany
STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 19, 2018 – NBC Sports presents more than 40 hours of coverage of the 2018-19 FIL Luge World Cup season across NBCSN, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app, OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app, as part of a five-year exclusive media rights agreement struck between NBC Sports Group, USA Luge and the International Luge Federation in 2017.
The season kicks off with the first World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria, followed by a stop in Whistler, British Columbia. 2018 Olympic singles silver medalist Chris Mazdzer will compete in men’s singles, as well as doubles with two-time Olympian Jayson Terdiman, who was his junior doubles partner. Two-time Olympian Summer Britcher, along with 2018 Olympian Emily Sweeney, are expected to lead the American women following the retirement of Sochi Olympic bronze medalist Erin Hamlin.
NBC Sports’ 2018-19 FIL Luge World Cup schedule continues from Calgary, Alberta (Dec. 7 – 9); Lake Placid, N.Y. (Dec. 15 – 16); Koenigssee, Germany (Jan. 5 – 6); Sigulda, Latvia (Jan. 12 – 14); Altenberg, Germany (Feb. 2 – 3); Oberhof, Germany (Feb. 9 – 10); and Sochi, Russia (Feb. 22 – 25). Coverage of the 2019 FIL World Luge Championships from Winterberg, Germany, begin Saturday, Jan. 26 at 8 a.m. ET on NBCSN. NBCSN and Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will present nearly 10 hours of World Championships programming.
