If a player gets the nickname of the ‘new Kaka,’ then they’re probably going to attract the attention of some big name clubs.
For Lucas Silva, he’s doing exactly that.
The 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder currently plays for Cruzeiro in Brazil’s top-flight. Although he was not featured in Brazil’s World Cup squad this summer, he has already helped lead his club to a league title in 2013.

Early reports pinned Silva with a January move to Real Madrid, where he could fill the role of Sami Khedira, who is likely to move away from the Bernabeu during the transfer window.
Now it looks like Jose Mourinho and Chelsea may be swooping in on the young Brazilian midfielder. Reports out of Spain are saying Mourinho is keen on bringing Silva to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea have become the top contender to sign Silva after swooping in on Madrid’s move.

Although he hasn’t played outside of Brazil’s domestic league, Silva has already caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the world. Playing in a central role, Silva controls the tempo of the midfield while spraying the ball around the pitch, often drawing comparisons to Xabi Alonso and, of course, Kaka.
It will be interesting to see when and where the ‘new Kaka’ will land in Europe. If Chelsea do end up the landing spot for Silva and the young midfielder fulfills his potential, I’m sure Jose Mourinho will give himself a nice pat on the back.
