How will the Neymar injury affect the club transfer market?

NeymarInjured

Neymar’s fractured vertebra, suffered late in the 2-1 victory over Colombia, could have a serious ripple effect throughout the club transfer market.

It’s unsure how long he will be out, and he doesn’t need surgery according to the team doctor, but it would certainly seem like an injury that would be better on the safe side than rushing him back from only to risk further trauma to a sensitive area.

So how will this affect the transfer market? It could have a very serious affect.

Hypothetically, if Neymar misses significant time with Barcelona, it could have a ripple effect on two major moves.

First, it could likely push through the Luis Suarez move. With Barcelona leaning heavily towards Suarez as a second attacking option, it could force them to make a move quicker than they would have liked, handing Liverpool some leverage and maybe even upping the eventual transfer fee.

Barcelona is currently rumored to have agreed upon the structure of a 5-year contract with the player, but obviously nothing has been finalized yet.

He’s out until October due to his FIFA ban, but who knows how long Neymar’s back fracture will take to heal.

More immediately though, another transfer could be affected, and soon. With Suarez likely on his way in, and Messi and Neymar already there, the club was shopping Alexis Sanchez.

Well, they may not continue to try and sell, depending on how long Neymar may be out.

Sanchez has been heavily linked with Arsenal, and they were rumored to be trying to push the deal through soon to raise the money for Suarez’s transfer.

However, Barcelona could try and keep Sanchez to fill in for Neymar until the Brazilian is ready to return, as Sanchez has played on the wing before and could be the man to take the injured star’s place.

The final thing to consider is built off what was mentioned before. With the Sanchez transfer needed to raise funds for the Suarez raid, if Barcelona decides to pull Sanchez off the market, it very well could nix a deal for Suarez, as they wouldn’t have the money or the Financial Fair Play space for a big-money purchase.

All of these things could come into play should Neymar miss club time.

Oh, and they probably won’t be selling Messi. Just incase you weren’t sure.
