David Nugent hit the crossbar in the first half but Ledley’s header from a set piece won the game for Palace who could have won by more as Jason Puncheon and Wilfried Zaha shone. The Eagles have now won five of their last six games since Alan Pardew took charge. Leicester have now lost three-straight.

With the win Palace are in 13th spot on 26 points, while Leicester remain rock bottom on 17 points.

Early on Palace looked lively as Wilfried Zaha broke through but Leicester skipper Wes Morgan blocked well to keep the scores level.

The Foxes woke up after a while as Riyad Mahrez had an effort well saved by Julian Speroni and then David Nugent hit the crossbar with a header as Leicester pushed for the opener.

As the first half continued the game became more open as the Eagles surged forward with Dwight Gayle and James McArthur going close for Palace.

Then Scott Dann got on the end of Puncheon’s corner but his header was deflected into the side-netting by Paul Konchesky as the first half came to a close.

After the break Yaya Sanogo struck an effort into the side-netting, then Leicester almost went ahead but Konchesky couldn’t make the most of some dodgy goalkeeping from Speroni. Palace then went ahead in the 55th minute as a corner from the left was headed back across goal by Brede Hangeland and Ledley headed home to put the Eagles 1-0 up.

Leicester wasted a glorious chance as Nugent waited to long to slot the ball across goal after rounding Speroni and Palace managed to clear the ball from danger. Puncheon then cut inside and smashed a shot just wide of the far post as Palace were eager to double their lead but had to settle for a 1-0 win.
