The calf injury that caused Sergio Aguero to leave Manchester City’s 6-3 win over Arsenal in the 49th minute is going to keep him out for “at least a month” with some reports suggesting his absence could reach six weeks.

Aguero was in fine form, with 12 goals in his last 11 matches including a tally to open Saturday’s Gunner-trouncing at the Etihad Stadium.

The injury will be a great cause of concern for manager Manuel Pellegrini, who has watched his club overcome poor road form to sit just three points back of first-place Arsenal.

It’s confirmed - my calf injury will leave me out for at least a month. The good news is recovery work starts today!

We started with therapeutic massages on the area and some bike work.I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for the support!

If the injury costs Aguero just one month, he’ll miss Premier League matches against Fulham, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Swansea City and Newcastle United in addition to a Capital One Cup tie at Leicester City and an FA Cup match at Blackburn.

City will turn to Edin Dzeko and/or Stevan Jovetic in the hopes of replicating Aguero’s prolific partnership with Alvaro Negredo.
