A big three points are on the line tomorrow as both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United look to head into the New Year riding high.

Tottenham are enjoying a good run in the Premier League, winning their last three matches all by the score of 2-1. After a slow start to the season, Spurs have climbed to seventh on the table, just two points outside of the top-four. Much of their success can be credited to the young Harry Kane, who scored his 15th goal in all competitions just 58 seconds into their match against Leicester City.

Kane has been a revelation up top for Spurs, forcing his way into a starting role as big-money signings Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor have been relegated to the bench. Kane must continue to produce for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as they close out 2014 with two massive matches at home against Manchester United and Chelsea.

Louis van Gaal’s side is coming off of a convincing 3-1 win over Newcastle United in a performance that was reminiscent of the Manchester United of old. Despite playing in a defensive midfield role, Wayne Rooney put in a man of the match performance, scoring twice and adding an assist on the third. It would have been another clean sheet for David de Gea if not for a clumsy tackle from Phil Jones late in the match as Newcastle converted from the penalty spot.
United will once again be without Angel di Maria, who suffered an injury in training on Christmas Eve.

United manager Louis van Gaal on the busy holiday schedule: “With FIFA and UEFA’s rules it’s forbidden to play within 48 hours. In England, it’s okay. I cannot prepare my team like I have to prepare. We have unit meetings, and team meetings, we have training 11 against 11, and assimilating opponents, we cannot do that now.”
Tottenham striker Harry Kane on Spurs’ form: “We’ve built up a bit of momentum now with some wins in the Premier League, so we’re in good form going into some big games. Both (Manchester United and Chelsea) at home, hopefully we can get the home fans going and get a result.”
Prediction:
Both sides are playing some of their best football of the season, and Spurs have faired well as of late against United. This match has all the makings for a cracker at White Hart Lane, and I’m going Tottenham Hotspur 2-3 Manchester United.
