Four games are on the slate in the last day of action before a two-week hiatus for the international break.
Here’s a quick primer on all four, as you can watch all of them live online or on the app via NBC Sports Live Extra.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Stoke City, 8:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN
Spurs are battling though a testing time with Mauricio Pochettino at the helm, as their comeback win away at Aston Villa last weekend proved. Despite not impressing, Tottenham are picking up wins and they have won their last three games against Stoke. The Potters have been inconsistent this season and have failed to grab back-to-back wins, while Mark Hughes’ men gave up a 2-0 lead against West Ham at the Britannia Stadium last week. USMNT man Geoff Cameron will likely suit up for Stoke at right back once again on Sunday, as Spurs aim to move into the top six. Emmanuel Adebayor and Aaron Lennon are back fit, but Pochettino could award Harry Kane a starting spot as his heroics from the bench continues.
West Bromwich Albion vs. Newcastle, 8:30 a.m. ET on Premier League Extratime
The big questions ahead of this match is: can Newcastle keep it going? The Magpies are on a terrific run of four-straight wins in all competitions and three on the spin in the PL. That has eased plenty of the pressure on Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, as his side are now aiming for a comfortable midtable finish. West Brom boss Alan Irvine, in his rookie campaign as a PL manager, would settle for that if you offered it to him right now. Although the Baggies beat Leicester 1-0 last week, some question the lack of cutting edge in his side. Saido Berhaino has scored seven of West Brom’s 13 goals this season, and he will be full of confidence after receiving his first-ever England call up this week. Gabriel Obertan and Cheick Tiote are definitely out, while Rolando Aarons and Papiss Cisse are doubtful for the trip to the Hawthorns. West Brom have lost just one of their last six home games against Newcastle.
Sunderland vs. Everton, 8:30 a.m. ET on Premier League Extratime
Plenty of American eyes will be on this one as a potential Jozy Altidore vs. Tim Howard battle will ensue at the Stadium of Light. Altidore will likely be on the bench... but still. Sunderland recorded their second win of the season away at Crystal Palace last week and Gus Poyet will be keen to build from that positive momentum. As for Everton, a win could take them into the top six as Roberto Martinez’s side looked sensational in Europa League action in midweek in a 3-0 trouncing of Lille. Antolin Alcaraz is definitely out for the Toffees, while Gareth Barry and Seamus Coleman face late fitness tests. Sunderland have won two of the last three meetings between these teams 1-0.
Swansea City vs. Arsenal, 11 a.m. ET on NBCSN
The Gunners will look to bounce back from a disappointing collapse at home to Anderlecht in the Champions League during the week, as Arsenal coughed up a 3-0 lead late in the second half to draw 3-3. Their cause will be helped by Jack Wilshere’s return to fitness, while Theo Walcott could make his first return since January. Swansea battled to a 0-0 draw at Everton last week but have won just one of their last seven PL games. Wilfried Bony has four goals in his last four PL games, and the Ivorian will be the Swans’ main threat at the Liberty. Arsenal know they must improve if they want to cement a top four finish this season and a win on Sunday will take them into the top four. As far as Arsene Wenger is concerned, when you have Alexis Sanchez in your team, you have a chance.
