What we’re thinking, what we’re watching, what’s coming on the blog today and the RASNoD (Random American Soccer Name of the Day). Setting up your day in soccer …
Birthdays of note: Former Seattle Sounders designated player Freddie Ljungberg turns 35. Celebrate by promising big things Monday morning, disappointing a few folks by lunch and thoroughly underwhelming everyone around you by late afternoon.
Big Important story of the day: How many unheard cries must rise before FIFA gets out of the dark age on goal-line technology? Sunday’s FA Cup match at famed Wembley (site of the king daddy all-timer of “did it cross” debates, from way back in 1966) is just the latest in that high, high stack of ever mounting evidence. Even John Terry says Sunday’s disputed goal (pictured) for Chelsea wasn’t over the line. “We’ve been calling for goal-line technology for a very long time and let’s hope that the people make the right decision. … thankfully, today it’s gone our way but during a season it goes for you and against you,” he said. Expect more fallout today … and possibly through the week.
Ahead on the blog today*: The popular Monday “Meh” list, plus Major League Soccer Team of the Week and Player of the Week.

Twitter dap: Mario Balotelli (@MB45Official): “Nearly 10000 follows, GRAZIE!!!”
Sign of the soccer apocalypse: Mario Balotelli joins Twitter on April 13 – Friday the 13th, naturally. Three days later he has 10,000 followers. Sigh.
We’ll leave you with this: You are not looking at all well. Why, is that a cough I hear? Ahem … Begin setting up your “call in sick” Tuesday or Wednesday, for Champions League semifinals are just about here.
