It looks like Wednesday will bring the official revelation for one of Spain’s worst-kept secrets: Rafa Benitez is taking over at Real Madrid.

Benitez finished his season at Napoli over the weekend, and arrived in Madrid on Tuesday. Madrid, for its part, cut ties with UCL-winning coach Carlo Ancelotti last week.

His appointment as boss of his hometown club, seekers of an 11th UEFA Champions League title or ‘Undecima’, should be settled Wednesday, according to the BBC. Napoli announced that he would leave last week.

From the BBC:

“I am enthusiastic and happy, although there are things that still need to be discussed,” Benitez said upon his arrival in Madrid.

For a man like Benitez, who hails from Madrid, the job sure seems ideal. But for any managers with similar options, we wouldn’t blame them for seeking more stability. Godspeed, Rafa.
