The BBC is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur has parted ways with manager Tim Sherwood after a half-year at the helm of the club.
Sherwood guided Spurs to a sixth-place finish after taking over for Andre Villas-Boas in late 2013, but his club was routinely throttled by top-end Premier League competition.
The end of his time at Spurs was controversial thanks to plenty of reports that the club was actively seeking his replacement, speculation that caused Tottenham to release statements disputing comments from Frank de Boer and Ajax amongst others.
For his part, Sherwood was not shy about trumpeting his accomplishments at Tottenham (nor was he shy about much else). The former Spurs and Portsmouth player won 59 percent of his matches for the White Hart Lane club.
Besides de Boer, Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino and Holland’s Louis van Gaal had been linked with the expected opening (though van Gaal has emerged as the clubhouse leader to take the Manchester United job).
