Brighton & Hove Albion will be without their top striker Tomer Hemed for the next three Premier League games.
Hemed, 30, was charged with violent conduct after stamping on Newcastle United and U.S. national team right back DeAndre Yedlin in the 88th minute of Brighton’s 1-0 win over the Magpies on Sunday.
The Israeli international had earlier scored the winner and although officials missed the incident at the time, Hemed was charged retrospectively.
His appeal was turned down and he has been handed an immediate three-game ban.
Hemed will now miss Brighton’s trip to Arsenal, as well as their home game against Everton and their trip to West Ham.
Scoring goals has been an issue so far in the Premier League for Chris Hughton’s and Hemed has two of their four strikes in their opening six games of the season.
Veteran Glenn Murray is likely to step in and newly-promoted Brighton don’t have many other options up top.
