Updated list of teams qualified for Champions League knockout stage
Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain added their names to the list of knockout stage qualifiers on Wednesday, with one match day still ahead. That means half of the field is set for the Round of 16 in world soccer’s most prestigious, most lucrative club competition.
The remaining eight spots will be decided on the final Champions League match-day of group action, coming up Dec. 10 and 11.
The coming Round of 16 is the first of the so-called “knockout” rounds. Clubs meet on a home-and-away, aggregate goals format. They will be drawn with group winners meeting group runner-ups (arranged so that opposition will not come from their current group, nor from their own nations.)
The list of teams now qualified for the Round of 16, which begins in February:
- Atlético de Madrid
- Bayern Munich
- Manchester City
- Manchester United
- Paris Saint-Germain
- Real Madrid
