With Courtois out, Cech returns to “his natural habitat” for Hull match

Aside from 67 minutes as a substitute against Arsenal, Petr Cech has spent more time drumming for people on YouTube than tending the nets in the Premier League this season.

But the Foofighters-playing Chelsea keeper will get his first PL start since a 1-0 win over Swansea City in April when the Blues host Hull City on NBCSN this Saturday morning.

Thibaut Courtois missed the UEFA Champions League midweek mach with an injury, and isn’t ready to return for the weekend.

And if your club needs to turn to its backup, why not have it be a three-time Premier League Golden Glove winner. It’s science, says Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho:

‘We have played Petr in three Champions League matches and every Capital One Cup game and he has always had our confidence. He has absolutely nothing to prove to me, to the club, to his team-mates or to the supporters.

‘It’s an easy, simple situation for him: go and play, which is what he has done his entire career. It’s very comfortable for me, for the players and for the fans to know our goalkeeper tomorrow is Petr Cech.

‘It’s his natural habitat to be in goal and not on the bench. That’s why since the beginning of the season I have kept saying it’s perfect for me to have Petr in the squad.’

So you’re saying the Chelsea bench is a zoo? Free Petr!

By the way, choosing to put yourself out there working the skins to Taylor Hawkins/Dave Grohl jams is gutsy.
