Sabally will be out for the fourth game in a row since returning from the All-Star break. The Liberty have emphasized that they didn’t want to rush her back out of concern for her long term health, but this begs the question was she really healthy to begin with when she came back from a right knee injury on June 10 after missing six games from May 24 through June 5. Sabally then played in 13 straight games while the Liberty were without starting center Jonquel Jones for a bit over a month. Head Coach Sandy Brondello admitted prior to the Liberty’s game on Friday July 25 that Sabally might have been playing a bit injured while Jones was out. But two days later, the New York Post’s Madeline Kenney
reported that Sabally “is expected” to be sidelined for the next two to three weeks in an effort to prioritize her long term health. Now with Sabally out and Breanna Stewart also out on Monday against the Wings, the Liberty will need to rely upon Jones who is now healthy in addition to Isabelle Harrison and Kennedy Burke while New York waits for the arrival of Emma Meesseman.
