The Commanders’ trading Robinson felt like a lock after it was announced last week that the team was shopping the fourth-year back. A day later, Robinson and the Commanders mutually agreed to sit him in the team’s preseason game against the Bengals, and now he’ll be on his way to the Bay Area to help a depleted Niners backfield. Robinson rushed for 799 yards and eight touchdowns in his first season in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense, but wasn’t deemed a scheme fit by the season’s end. The selection of Jacory “Bill” Croskey-Merritt, who has impressed in camp, has made Robinson expendable, and a now valuable addition to the Niners. He should immediately slot in as the RB2 behind Christian McCaffrey, but it seems unlikely that he will earn much work if McCaffrey sees his normal workload. Robinson is a solid between-the-tackles grinder who has averaged 4.1 YPC for his career. He could make for a decent handcuff in deeper leagues if McCaffrey were ever to miss time.

Jordan Addison is set to serve a three-game suspension, and Jalen Nailor is sidelined with a hand injury. After reports that the Vikings were looking for help at receiver, Thielen becomes an interesting option. The 35-year-old vet spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Vikings, and in 2022, played under head coach Kevin O’Connell, giving the two plenty of familiarity with one another. Thielen is currently a projected starter for the Panthers, but with a younger receiving corps emerging and Hunter Renfrow impressing in camp, the vet may prove expendable if another team comes calling. Should he land in Minnesota, Thielen would likely see a significant snap share for the first three weeks until Addison returns, and could remain a fixture in three receiver sets if he proves himself worthy of playing time over that span. While a deal is far from imminent, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the two sides reunite in the coming days.

Although Dart was cleared to return, we do not expect him to return. Dart took a tumble on a scramble and was summoned into the blue medical tent by medical staffers. Before that play, which nearly resulted in a lost fumble, Dart looked great against the Patriots’ defense. He completed 6-of-12 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown and rushed once for 23 yards. One has to wonder how long Russell Wilson can keep the starting job with Dart showing promise. The rookie passer would have had a much bigger stat line had WR Jalin Hyatt not botched two downfield opportunities. Hyatt let one pass bounce off his shoulder pads and later let another clang off his hands. He then, almost unbelievably, hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Jameis Winston on the play immediately after Dart’s scramble. For fantasy managers wishing to stash a late-round dual-threat quarterback, Dart deserves consideration.

McVay feels “good” about Stafford’s current participation level. Hopefully, Stafford can remain setback-free as he shakes off rust and develops rapport with his pass catchers. He makes for a shaky QB2 in fantasy. Unsurprisingly, Stafford will not participate in the Rams’ preseason Week 3 game against the Browns.

The Jaguars eased Hunter into action via limited participation on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the goal of having him practice against the Dolphins in today’s joint practice. Jaguars head coach Liam Coen “considered” allowing Hunter to participate today, but “wanted to avoid any chance that Hunter could aggravate the injury.” Plans change, and no setbacks have been reported. Coen adds that if Thursday’s practice were a game, Hunter “probably” would have played. None of the starters will play in the Jaguars’ preseason Week 3 game against the Dolphins. Fantasy managers are advised to continue drafting Hunter as a WR3 with upside.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Jackson’s foot is “a little sore today,” but deemed the star quarterback “fine” after holding him out of Thursday’s practice. We can breathe a sigh of relief. Following his recovery will be worthwhile but fantasy managers can continue drafting Jackson as an elite QB1.

The tone of Schefter’s report is that the Buccaneers will carry Godwin on the active roster at the start of the year rather than sending him to IR or the in-season PUP list, so that he can practice with the team. With Godwin and Jalen McMillan both out for at least the first month — longer for McMillan — Emeka Egbuka and Cade Otton will have bigger roles in the offense early. Egubka is going to be one of the highest ADP risers in the last two weeks before the season we’ve ever charted. This is not terrible news for Godwin, and it’s certainly been trending towards him missing time at the start of the season for a while, but his fantasy stock will take a hit in 2025.

Moore was a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, but could never really stick with the Chiefs’ receiving corps. He caught 43 passes for 494 yards and a touchdown over his first two seasons, while failing to catch any of his three targets last season. Moore adds value as a returner, recently returning a punt for a touchdown in the Chiefs’ preseason Week 2 game. The 49ers’ receiver group has been decimated by injuries and the recent suspension to Demarcus Robinson. They now add Moore, who is a shot in the dark at some production from the receiver spot. He is unlikely to hold fantasy relevance heading into the season.

Vele heads to the Saints after a productive rookie season with the Broncos in 2025. He was a 26-year-old rookie, posting 41 receptions for 475 yards and three touchdowns while primarily working out of the slot. An offseason knee procedure limited Vele in camp, while the emergence of second-year receiver Troy Franklin and rookie Pat Bryant made him more expendable. The Saints add Vele’s 6-foot-5 frame to a receiver room in need of reinforcement behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. Vele has some value as a late-round dart throw in fantasy drafts.
