Junior Caminero delivered his first career three-homer game Thursday in the Rays’ 13-2 blowout of the Royals.

Caminero hit his 17th and 18th homers of the year off Seth Lugo and then added No. 19 off infielder Tyler Tolbert in the eighth. That last was a three-run shot, giving him six RBI for the second time in his career. Caminero is now tied for 10th in the majors in homers, and he’s 14th with an .896 OPS. He’s probably not going to match last year’s total of 45 homers, but he’s already exceeded last year’s 41 walks, with 45 to date, and his OBP is currently up 66 points from 2025 (.377 to .311).

Ian Seymour will start Thursday’s series finale against the Royals.

Seymour will work without an opener when he faces Kansas City for the second consecutive outing in another favorable road matchup. He tossed 6 2/3 hitless innings in a bulk relief outing against the Royals last week. The 27-year-old lefty has been magnificent recently, posting a pristine 3.86 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 20/8 K/BB ratio across 21 innings over five outings since the start of June. He’s an extremely attractive streaming option for fantasy managers, even in shallow mixed leagues.

Hurston Waldrep will start Thursday’s series finale against the Cardinals.

Waldrep draws the starting assignment after he wasn’t needed in relief during Wednesday’s contest, thanks to a stellar performance from Reynaldo López. It’ll be Grant Holmes operating in a bulk relief role behind Waldrep, if needed. The 24-year-old tossed a pair of scoreless frames in relief during his season debut against the Giants last Friday. He offers enough strikeout upside that he’s a decent streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues.

The Braves are skipping Bryce Elder’s next scheduled start on Friday against the Mets.

Elder will get some additional time off to recover after experiencing some diminished velocity during his last start against the Giants where he allowed five runs over four innings last Saturday. The 27-year-old will be pushed back to next week’s series against the Pirates.

Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in the Phillies’ 10-6 defeat of the Pirates on Wednesday.

Turner had a solo homer Monday, a two-run homer Tuesday and now a three-run homer tonight. Perhaps the Phillies should try batting him cleanup on Thursday and see what happens. The homer tonight was his 10th of the year. He’s scored runs in seven straight games and two runs in each of the last three.

Although he struck out 10, Zack Wheeler gave up four runs in 4 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Pirates.

Wheeler was given eight runs to work with tonight, but stunningly, it wasn’t enough to get him a win. It’s the first time in 13 starts this season that he hasn’t completed five innings, and the only time he came out immediately after five was in his Apr. 25 return from the IL. The four runs allowed also matched his season high. Wheeler’s stuff was fine, and though he allowed nine hits, he gave up only six hard-hit balls. He’ll face the Reds next Tuesday.

Paul Skenes was charged with eight runs — seven earned — in four innings Wednesday in a loss to the Phillies.

Skenes’ command was off tonight, and his fastball velocity was down 0.7 mph from his season average. Still, he probably could have gotten through four allowing one run with just a little help. In the second, he should have had Gabriel Rincones Jr. struck out on what was called ball three, but the Pirates were afraid to challenge the pitch after already burning one. He went on to walk, and then, with the bases loaded, Justin Crawford hit a little chopper to third that Nick Gonzales got no outs on after his throw home hit Alec Bohm. Trea Turner went on to homer in a five-run inning. In the fourth, the Phillies hit Skenes very hard, but Bryce Harper’s two-run double could have been caught if the Pirates didn’t have an infielder in Tyler Callahan playing left. No pitcher in the league has been let down more by his defense this year than Skenes. It’s not wholly responsible for his decline, but it’s a big part of it. He’ll take a 3.63 ERA into his next start against the Braves.

Nick Gonzales finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk Wednesday against the Phillies.

Gonzales didn’t have a very good night in the field at third base, but he did single three times off Zack Wheeler to help make up for it. He’s batting an even .300 on the year and doing it mostly with singles; just 15 of his 90 hits have gone for extra bases and his isolated slugging percentage is .073, down from a career mark of .118.

Brandon Nimmo (shoulder) sat out Wednesday’s series finale against the Guardians.

Nimmo has missed three consecutive games after being diagnosed with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. It’s possible he’ll require a trip to the injured list prior to Thursday’s series opener against Detroit. Fantasy managers should make sure to check back in on his status.

Raynel Delgado was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Twins with an apparent right hand injury.

Delgado is assuredly heading for imaging to determine whether he suffered any fractures after taking a bad hop off his throwing hand in the fifth inning. The 26-year-old rookie has been splitting time with Nick Allen at shortstop with Jeremy Peña on the shelf with a mild calf strain.

    Mets released RHP Adbert Alzolay.

Alzolay was one of Chicago’s top pitching prospects and had some success after converting to a full-time relief role, notching 22 saves during the 2023 campaign. He missed all of last year recovering from Tommy John surgery before signing a minor league deal with the Mets as a potential reclamation project. The 31-year-old has been cut loose after being torched for 10 runs over 8 2/3 innings at Triple-A Syracuse this season.
