Mitchell Boggs threw a one-hit shutout and struck out 11 Wednesday for Single-A Palm Beach.
Boggs, 22, is 5-3 with a 3.57 ERA, 67 H and 57/26 K/BB in 63 IP for Palm Beach. A 2005 fifth-round pick, he could be a future fifth starter or middle reliever for the Cardinals.

Jarren Duran went 2-for-6 with a three-run homer Saturday as the Red Sox bested the Guardians 9-1 on.
This was a tight game until the end. The Red Sox got one insurance run in the eighth to make it 3-1 and then broke the game open in the ninth, with Duran’s homer concluding the scoring. Duran is 16-for-46 with five homers and 13 RBI in his last 10 games, raising his OPS from .548 to .675.

James Schiano discusses what the long-awaited return of right-handed pitcher Jared Jones means for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #54
Sonny Gray held the Guardians to one run in six innings to improve to 6-1 on Saturday.
The run came right away on back-to-back doubles from Travis Bazzana and José Ramírez to start the first, but it was smooth sailing after that. Gray fanned seven, including six with his sweeper. He’ll take a 3.06 ERA into his next start, which should be a fun one. He’ll pitch in Yankee Stadium for the first time since talking in a December interview about how much he hates the Yankees.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #77
Parker Messick pitched five innings of one-run ball Saturday against the Red Sox.
Messick matched his season lows with four strikeouts and five innings pitched today, but he always gives the Guardians a chance. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer in 10 of 12 starts, and he’s eighth in the majors with a 2.21 ERA and tied for 11th with 74 strikeouts. His next start is a particularly advantageous one against the Rangers in Globe Life Field.
  • BOS Catcher #12
Connor Wong had an RBI double and a two-run single Saturday in a win over the Guardians.
The double was originally ruled a homer, which would have been Wong’s first since Sept. 2024, but it was overturned. The ball hit the top padding on the wall, appeared to sink behind the wall, but then bounced back into play. It would have been his sixth career homer against Cleveland, which is kind of nuts. The only other team he has more than two against is Cincinnati (three in eight games), so it must be an Ohio thing. He has eight homers in 22 games against those two clubs and 15 in 359 games against everyone else.
  • DET Right Fielder #30
Kerry Carpenter flew out and walked before being lifted from his second rehab game Saturday.
It sounded like the original plan was to activate him Monday, but now Carpenter, on the IL with a strained shoulder, could rejoin the Tigers on Sunday. Gage Workman, Zack Short and Hao-Yu Lee are probably the candidates to be replaced on the Tigers’ roster. One will go for Carpenter, and another figures to exit to make room for Gleyber Torres sometime soon.
  • NYY 3rd Baseman #14
Yankees placed INF/OF Amed Rosario on the paternity list.
The Yankees did not replace him on the roster for Saturday’s game. Rosario figures to return Tuesday after the off day Monday.
  • AZ 3rd Baseman #28
Nolan Arenado is in Saturday’s lineup after missing two starts with a groin strain.
Arenado is also likely sporting an elbow bruise after getting plunked as a pinch-hitter in Friday’s game. Nevertheless, he’s playing third base tonight.
  • LAA Left Fielder #53
Wade Meckler went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, two runs scored, and a stolen base in the Angels’ 14-3 win over the Rays on Saturday.
Meckler put the Angels on top early, taking Drew Rasmussen deep with the bases loaded in the first inning for a grand slam. He later led off the fourth with a base hit and stole second before scoring on a double. The 26-year-old outfielder has been productive in his short stint with the Angels so far, hitting .308/.333/.538 with two homers, eight RBI, and two steals across 27 plate appearances. While he does have excellent contact skills, there’s not much in the batted ball data that points to any sustainable power potential.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Mike Trout went 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored against the Rays on Saturday.
Trout knocked a base hit and scored a run in the first inning, then took Casey Legumina deep for a solo homer in the fifth. He later drew a walk in the seventh, then walked and scored in the ninth. The 34-year-old star outfielder is slashing .241/.412/.498 with 14 homers, 45 runs scored, 31 RBI, and five steals across 262 plate appearances.
  • TB Designated Hitter #2
Yandy Díaz went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored against the Angels on Saturday.
Díaz led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo homer off Reid Detmers, continuing his power binge after Friday’s two-homer contest. He later singled and scored in the fifth. The 34-year-old slugger is up to 11 homers and 37 RBI while hitting .317/.396/.538 across 227 plate appearances.
